M3BS - yours are probably 8kg too, and we will be happy to swap them for 9KG if you want, but as we discussed on the other thread, per JIC Technical Support email, that is not the issue -
"On an inverted monotube damper there is an internal bump stop rubber preventing the damper from bottoming out and damaging the piston. On a 1 series we designed the suspension to appeal to the average user, on stock 1 series BMW sets up the car to basically ride on the bump stop all the time so you get the sporty stiff compression feel but still retain a lot of rebound stroke. On the 1 series front struts you have about 4 inches of stroke in the damper, initial setup is designed so you have approximately 2 inches of stroke on both rebound and compression. If you feel that this setup is not working for you because you drive the car more aggressively we offer custom valuing and spring rates to meet your specific needs. This is an off the shelf item that is designed to work for the general masses for this reason we do have the ability to do custom setups. The sound that you are hearing is not the strut actually bottoming out but excessive road noise transmitted through the strut because of the way BMW suspension design is there is a direct translation of road sound to the chassis." Will be more then happy to accomondate anyone that has an issue. Just contact me. We are in business because it is our goal to provide quality products and service. Things happen and we need to correct them. ForcedAir - That is a blatant lie and if you can prove anywhere that we have ever made a claim like that, I will buy your Tiburon for 2x the value... Your facts are not right anywhere. The Pepsi RX8 had a stock RX8 motor with a Greddy Turbo Kit. Most it made was 300hp. There is no reason for stories like this. You can view the entire Pepsi RX8 project at www.vividracing.com/forums/project-rx8-tour Again we ordered 8 sets of these Coilovers that were shipped to us from Japan at once. CROSS does not show this model on their site with spring rates and obviously all of the ones we have here are 8/12kg. The only thing I can think of is the first prototype set Jon at JIC gave me for our car ws 9/12kg. I sincerely apologize for the typographical error. And if this problem was as simple as swapping out the springs, we would do it immediately. You can view my installation thread here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/pr...jic-cross.html |

I spoke with Bryan at Cross NA yesterday about the setup. I'm still not sure I understand the bumpstop setting, but a stiffer spring will provide some additional shock travel before hitting the bumpstop to absorb energy. I'm just not sure I want to go stiffer in the front, as that will only increase the understeer. I think I'm just going to get rid of the RFTs, and see how that works for now.
I'm not having enough of a problem with it to warrant tearing the suspension apart again. |

JIC USA and Japan have split business for many reasons. JIC will be redeveloping its suspension line to be re-released in late Aug 2010. We are not sure if this will include all models or a select. JIC USA will continue to support its past and present customers for suspension rebuilds and warranty. Because of this, we are clearancing out the left over inventory at cost which is $1750.

consumer reviews are very important. I hate hearing about this stuff going on. I ALWAYS check vendor reviews before ordering anything. Thanks

Yeah, I've ordered a couple of things through Vivid and have had no problems whatsoever.

Well..the real test for any vendor is not when someone buys a part in stock and they have it and can ship it..any monkey can do that...the real test is how they deal with a situation when they don't have it or having trouble sourcing it or if there is a problem with the part...that's what separates good vendors from bad ones.
