Well I'm only $300 away from my tune. One more month and it's done! I finally got an email back this morning from evolve and he's giving me a really good discount.

Parts prices fluctuate depending on were from, and when you buy them. I got my disa manifold for $100. Just depends.

The manifold was the only used part, tune and headers were brand new. AA is active autowerke in miami. Mapleridge the the name of a member on here who ran a set of 15 headers and sold them. I don't know if he still has any but feel free to send him a PM and he'll help youout.

Thanks for the info...don't care about the manifold, but I want new DISA valves...check YouTube for all the videos of people complaining about noisy DISA valves...

Just check them once you get it. Easy enough.

Aren't you pretty much screwed then? Evolve or Active are the only options in my opinion. Evolve just requires some patience, they have given me updates almost every week or every other week letting me know they were working on the tune or sending me a new one. |

You could try posting in a fashion that does not make you sound like a low rent knuckle dragger. Probably more likely to be taken seriously.

Got any proof? Your the first to talk negatively about evolve. I'm curious to see stock, evolve, aa graphs side by side. From what I'm tracking you get around 260 hp with each tune, that's a 30hp increase, and you get more power throughout the curve? Biggest difference I've seen is the disa bumps are smoother with evolve.

Regardless of any of that, this would be significantly outside the norm for Evolve if they weren't the leader in terms of legitimate tunes.

Evolve is one step above garbage in my book, and will remain that way until I can see something tangible that justifies the exorbitant price they are offering for their glorified PBX. |

Here is something tangible for you. Three different platforms from a variety of ages of BMW all being tuned thousands of miles from an Evolve facility. This help? http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...m5-vodyks.html

Interesting, the evolve map show was without DISA. Evolve admits to very small gains (10-15 hp) on their stage 1 non disa tune. With disa it's a 30+ hp gain over stock. The AA Tune without DISA is similar in gains (10-15hp) over stock. Remember the N51 has disa but less compression, and it gets a 50 hp gain over stock. N52 with the disa should make more power with the DISA since it has more compression. Higher compression yield the greater potential for power. Since I haven't seen a n52 with disa manifold dyno graph ( I don't think there is one) I can't show proof, but it should make ~ 10 more hp than the n51.

Best part I have a contact at DC auto sports in Nuremberg that is going to dyno the car after the disa and tune. 4 runs for 50€. I won't have a before and after but we will know how this swap goes on stock 128i manifolds.

AA with secondary cats removed and 93 octane vs Evolve with standard catted exhaust and 91 octane Both make very similar power... and Evolve is crap? I'll have what you're drinking!

I don't care what Evolve has done, I care what they are doing - that tune isn't impressive for the work done on THIS platform. Do you know WHY I went with OE instead of AA? My old M52TU Z3 had a SHARK INJECTOR flash - one of the oldest reflashes on the market. AA is known in BMW circles for years, including not just software tunes, but hardware like exhaust and superchargers. If someone knows something about tuning, it would surely be them, right? When a member compared AA's tune vs the Shark on a full bolt on car (including Shrick Camshafts) the Shark put down more power at every RPM. Why did I change my mind? Active hasn't been shy about dynos or support (which is based here in the USA) and unlike Evolve, they actually show gains in independent dynos - I'm convinced they are the best tuner on this platform until I can see some verification otherwise. |
