If you're 90% sure that it's the low pressure fuel pump that's faulty and causes the problem then I'd fight it. It'd be easy for BMW to check that fuel pump and see if it's causing problem (I think). It'd be BS to blame O2 sim and SSTT mod to a low pressure fuel pump failure.

Tunes such as Vishnu, and BMS. Have taken the extra steps to ensure their tunes would not trip this. They also run all these aftermarket bolt ons. This is why I always suggest these tunes, since they are actively engaged in updates and newly released products....

You should always take off your mods before going in for anything, and try to fight it. By law they can not void your warrenty. They must prove that the issue at hand is caused by your mods. It will be an ugly fight, but I would make the fight.

To the OP I had the same problem with my car SES light with ½ engine light at cruise. I took my JB3 out and went to the dealer. They found that car had a cylinder 2 misfire code. The tech started trouble shooting by swapping the sparkplugs, coil, and fuel injector with a different cylinder (one at a time) by doing this he isolated the issue to a bad fuel injector.(the code move to the other cylinder) Since your warranty is gone you may want to try this. Goodluck.

No sh!t...I was asking a comparison between the two companies, not if one (Dinan) would warranty another (Riss).

And they have to PROVE it! There is a free review board that will back you up on this! (Oh, there isn't?) And we are talking absolute scientific proof, not just that legal "beyond a reasonable doubt" crap! (What, this IS a legal issue?) Well, at least I'm sure arbitration is free! And I am certain that an attorney will take up your "ugly fight" for free. Bottom line is: Just how much time, effort and money are you willing to throw at this fight? To set a precedent (or to avoid setting one), the manufacturer can throw many times the cost of the repair at legal fees and the like. Can you? And keep in mind that to most others outside the "modding community" you will have to overcome the impression of a whiner who screwed with the car and doesn't want to pay the consequences. But they do have to PROVE it. |

Nice! Except the fact is that Dinan's warranty goes away if you add other manufactures parts to their tune.

The code isn't the problem. You, much like the tech I'm dealing with, aren't listening, or don't want to hear the truth. The problem started BEFORE any mods were installed. The car has been doing this since the break in period was finished and I took it on my first road trip. Expain to me exactly how the mods I have could cause an issue that can be corrected by filling the fuel tank up? |

Effectively what I've done is given them an excuse to deny any claim that's related to the ECU. The fuel pump and cruise control glitch are both known issues, but I gave them an out and they're using it. On the bright side, I just filled out the online satisfaction survey |

They should at least fix cruise control glitch. There're no f-ing way that the mods you've could cause that. Furthermore, that glitch is also a known issue that's acknowledge by BMW Germany and fixed it with the software update.

This really scare me about moding my 135. Right now, I only have JB3 (still on ordered) which I can easily un-mod before I toke my car in for any warranty repair. The next mod will be the cat-back exhaust system (I am thinking about CPE) and streamline panel air filter. I think I will from here and no more DP, and may be suspension mod the most. Thanks for the head up warning inofrmaiton.

if sstt somehow was badly wired or caused a short somplace, that coudl affect any electrical system in the car... BMW in my experience is nothing like most cars, where all the systems are different, seems like a lot of the systems are integrated together

as i said this would have all been avoided by just removing your dp's, and i know what your going to say because you said it already why pay money once a year to uninstall and install your dp's? Well the simple answer is because the 2-4 hundred bucks you spend on that could save you thousands down the line if you retain your warranty and something actually goes wrong. I hear you and understand that you had a problem before, and if you really did you should have been more persistant in getting your claim fixed, you should not have a modded a car that had a fuel problem and than expect to take it in modded with no cats, and an o2 sim wired into the ecu and expect bmw to fix your fuel problem.

Regardless if you have the mods on the car, they need to replace the hpfp because it is a known problem with the n54 engine. PM randomquickness he had a hpfp problem he brought the car in with catless dps, rr intake, rr dvs, and rr exhaust. They tried to pull the same thing on him, but they ended up replacing it under warranty. Because the hpfp is a known problem and its been going out on stock cars. We did take out his jb3 and 02 sims before he took the car in though, but regardless the hpfp is a faulty design.
