Real good marketing imo! Bad for everyone who thought at the time that 1M was overpriced which was irrelevant especially so in US. Reaching one when new was a pain in the ass though, basically took a year out of my life. |

It's hot and sexy!
135i is great and I think the new 135is would be something more and more! A very nice way to say goodbye

i like it...although i would not buy it over my current N54...As mentioned there is no reason BMW could not of made the 1M for another year or so....It is so much nicer a car for an additional 3 grand over this new re-incarnation of the 135i....The 1M and the 135i are still my favorite BMW's although the M3 is gorgeous as well but i like smaller/lighter is better..... i will not buy this car..at that price i would buy a used 1M or wait for the next 2M...i am TOTALLY content with my tuned 135i which has more power and almost paid off....if i am going into debt again it will only be for a M from BMW. The 1M should of been in production for at least another year and if BMW is smart (which they are) they should bring the 1M back ....if they can do the 2013 with all the cosmetic gizmo's than they can certainly do better for the enthusiasts here....afterall they built the 1M for us....now they just put this new 135is out for who know's what reason.....but it certainly does not excite me to buy one especially since it's no better than what i have now.

If it had LSD I'd be mildly interested. Otherwise, it's what I'm driving now with BNG's. If a new buyer, this does make things simple, as the major warranty mod's are done and the car will be plenty entertaining. As long as a new version comes in before my warranty is expired, I'll be happy.

No. It will likely never be available on a non-M vehicle (and highly unlikely on an actual M, to boot).

That was dropped with the start of the 2010 model year in favor of an e-diff.

I like that there is a model above a 135i available now for the enthusiast to identify with. Whenever I see a 335is I think "There's a good chance he's a gear head ..." Thats why I wanted a 1M, a specialty car for the enthusiast in the $50k range that will retain value well and be usable as a daily with reasonable fuel consumption etc etc. I like the idea of a plucky coupe and the 135i is a great car, but something was missing, the 1M was that something. Thank you BMWUSA for putting this together.
Now, it's too expensive, within a few thousand of the base 1M by pulling parts out the bin, good marketing there limiting the 1M then bringing this out. Now what I would like to I know is that if BMWUSA and other countries could not convince BMW AG to produce more 1Ms despite the huge demand, how can they get this edition approved? Does the availability of a DCT box, a vert and more color options really make the case for more volume that much stronger. If so why not offer a DCT with the 1M?

Just kidding, but seriously the 1M is perfect as it is, let's leave her alone, it is destined to be a car against the tides. However, a car company is a money making business so you never know what they can do. Having said that, if we read between the lines, all this only makes sense because 1M was limited and it will remain limited so that they can still sell the rest with a price hike. 135is in US and new M135i in Europe. Just good business and no one can say they are not good cars. The 1M was a steal for a lucky minority which worked as a image job for the company as well; now BMW is stealing back what they can |
