The black paint may hide it a bit more, but the rake is there. The back clearly sits a bit higher in every pro-kit install i have seen on the net (on the 1 series anyway). With that being said, as long as you like how your car looks and drives, thats all that matters. Enjoy your car. |

So I don't get it. Do people like the rake or don't like the rake? To me, it doesn't really matter, as long as you love the feel and the ride. Are there any benefits to having no rake vs. rake?

I personally like the stance even. Tom Jones may like it with a slight rake. Thats the beauty of this modding game, you like what you like. Thats all that matters.

Another HUGE fan of the B12 Pro-Kit here. IMHO it's the best suspension upgrade you can make for a DD. Significant reduction in suspension lean and squat under heavy throttle, great road feel, and very little compromise in day to day comfort. I have utilized Bilstien in a number of my vechicles, from an FJ60 Land Cruiser to a fully tuned B5 S4, and they have always delivered.

I don't do track days, just 3-4 autocross sessions a year. Are the bushings worth it?

Man this thread really has me thinking about the B12 kit. Knowing the factory struts go out around 60k, I was planning on going with the BMW PS. I want something firmer with a slight drop over stock but I absolutely do NOT want a stiff / jarring / slammed ride. My daily commute is 80 miles round trip through 3 states (NJ/NY/CT) so comfort and not bottoming out are key.
I had Koni and Eibachs on my previous car and even on the softer setting I found the ride to be a little unsettling on small uneven bumps. I also considered the FSD's but I don't care for the frequent rebuilds. Yes I know, I want my cake and want to devour it too. Last edited by 3002 tii; 04-14-2014 at 11:51 AM.. |

Was able to take advantage of the improving weather in the pacific NW and reminded myself how much more I enjoy my 135 with the upgrades I've made. Every aspect of the car is improved with little to no trade off. For someone looking for a set it and forget it suspension I highly recommend the B12 pro kit and M3 rear subframe bushings. Combined with the M3 front swaybar and non run flat tires it's just about perfect.

+1 for the B12 kit. Really good bang for your buck purchase. Completed the install with two friends along with Whiteline RSFB and the difference is night and day. Body roll is reduced, the car feels composed and controlled.
My recommendation is to remove the stock run flats soon after if not before the B12 install. The ride is quite harsh with the run flats still on. Best price I could find is here: http://www.ajusa.com/Bilstein-46-180...it-acb089.html (Tip: Ask about drop-shipping direct from Bilstein) Here are some pictures of the kit, Bilstein makes high quality products and it shows.

How would you describe the ride? What I am trying to avoid with lowering the car is that choppy or jumpy or pogo stick like ride. ? Also how much did the kit lower your car ?

The ride is firm but not choppy or harsh. Overall the best word to describe the ride is planted. The install reduced the height on my 135i approximately one inch.

Would you say it feels like a proper sports car, as in the handling is buttoned down and not sloppy and loose?
