^ thats what I'm thinking too, but the Face Lift for the e90 is due in 2009. I wouldnt want to drop 46.5k (or whatever) on a car that will look out-dated in a year...

With the value of the US dollar in the dumper as of late, the pricing is no surprise. Actually I think they took a hit on the base price and pumped up the price of options to compensate for the USD weakness.
My ideal 135i comes in at $39K and change. $3K more than I spent on my current e46 330 but certainly a far more performance exciting driving experience from the 1er. Strangely, my ideal 128i comes in at almost $36k. With that small of a difference, IMHO it would be severely stupid not to go for the full on 135i. I will be taking extra risk in currency and options trades for the next several months in order to make enough to buy the 135i. |

I am thinking more 335 than 135 now. And I'm saying that for one simple reason. I'm not lucky enough to go out and spend time on the track once or twice a year and I am thinking resale value. I think it's going to be easier to sale a 4dr (335) car than a 2dr (135) when it's time to let go and buy something else.

I'm slightly disappointed, but not terribly surprised by the pricing announcemnts.
My plans haven't really changed though; 128i with sport package, heated seats, xenons and active steering. Should be about 33k + tax. If I can get it for less than MSRP, but closer to invoice, maybe 31k, then I'll be pretty happy with that, its just going to push my purchase date out a little bit more than I wanted. Maybe its a good thing though? Maybe they'll bring over the diesels in a year or two, in which case I'll have wasted a few grand by buying a new 128i only to sell it for a 123d |

Reality strikes...
Mid $30,000's meant mid $30,000's. I think the $37,550 msrp is about right for what I'm going to get. Hell, my Evo was $31,999, but came with the juvenile boy-racer stigma that, unfortunately, I've outgrown since March. I'll spend the extra cash to feel like an adult, have 300 hp, and 300 lbs. torque...stock that is.

The reason some of us can afford to walk into the dealership and pay cash for a car like this, is becuase we have not pissed our money away all our lives on overpriced items, that are not very good value! |

i had already decided to buy neither but rather to wait for the 130 or 123d, if i could get either of those at the announced price of the 128 i'd be in; i just have to write it one more time:bmw fu and the detuned n52.

The starting price was where I figured it would be butI had hoped for 1-2k less. Optioned the way I'd want I'm looking at 38k MSRP.
I still have a fair amount of time and will try one when it comes out but I'm a less sure now than I was before. I'll also be keeping an eye on used GT-R's in a few years to see how they depreciate. Hopefully they do not hold their value as much as M3's. Or I may just buy a loaded Camaro who knows |

Pissing away money has nothing to do with it. If you cant afford it DONT buy it. I'll walk into the dealer with cash in my hand too, and get the same deal you will. Trust me |

^ LOL, you both should reconsider...
Why use your cash to buy a depreciating asset when borrowing is so cheap? I'll keep my money where it is (making money and adding to my net worth) and just let the small finance charges be a part of buying, or not buying, the car... Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still to young to have ALL of the answers...

As for the stock market, I might not be able to buy a used Kia after investing $35k for a few weeks. |
