I debadged then rebadged my car with the 'newer' style M emblem off the the E9x M3. It's kinda half way between leaving it alone and debadging.

I wish US Specs had the option to order de-badged... like Europeans do.
I want the special GT-R edition, like I saw that baller with the Mustang had... Last edited by Daniel135i; 10-04-2011 at 03:37 PM.. |

I think the acceptable options are no badge, original badge, or different color but otherwise original badge. I took the 128i off my vert because it was chrome. My trim is not otherwise chrome. I thought about black or matte black and decided none was the best option. If you know 1s you know it's a 128i and anybody that asks I tell. I'd love to have a 1M but I also am proud of my 128i. It is a very nice car with enough power. I thought about getting a vanity plate to read "e88 n52" but dropped the idea when I learned I would have to pay money each year to keep it. I put matte black kidney grilles on for the same reason the badge came off. The originals had chrome surrounds and I want the outside black or white - not chrome.
I think people who put badges on their car that are mis-leading are the ones with a problem. No badge or the same badge is just a style choice to me. I cannot imagine taking off a M badge, however. People who do not know bimmers don't realize what it means and the ones that do have nothing but a positive impression. Style points are good - but maybe I'd think differently if I had a AW 1M. Jim

Yea people love putting higher end model markings on lower end models just to make themselves feel special. I followed a 328i to the dealership I bought my car at a couple weekends ago and it has the M badge right by the 328i, just so older (~50 yr old) gent was driving it. Debadged is the best way to go. It would be nice if BMW would offer the debadge as an option.

Can't seem to tell the difference from this picture. Could you post a comparison between this one and the one you took off? EDIT: Nevermind, found your other post. |

Why as an option...just take the badge off....some dental floss and a couple car care products to clean up residue. For this car it's not even a thought but always nice to hold on to the badge for resale or if you change your mind.

I de-badged my 135i only because I have done a 1M conversion and I like the clean lines. No badges were replaced
