Merry Christmas fellow 128i drivers. Watch your speed in the snow storms.

Red + snow always looks nice, especially if you come out of a carwash on one of those grey days

Spending time on this site it's easy to get 135-envy mighty quick.
But this article makes me feel even happier about pulling the trigger a week ago on a CPO '10 128i w/sport pkg (27K on the odometer). As a newbie, I can't post a new thread, so I'll ask a question here to fellow 128ers: Do you hear a hissing/scraping noise seemingly coming from front right of the car at any speed (5mph +) that disappears when you stop? It sounds like when my motorcycle's brake pads rub on the rotor when pushing the bike around the garage. Almost a swooshing noise: "shhhhhhhhh" It doesn't get any louder or quieter with speed - though above 60mph road noise drowns it out. If it's normal, I'll learn to live with it, but right now it's ALL I can hear. Not sure if somethings rubbing wrong somewhere? If it was door/window seal related it would change volume with speed as wind picks up. But it doesn't. Any thoughts? |

My initial thoughts are the brake disk protector metal things, cant remember the name of them. my car didnt make a noise till i changed wheels, then it made strange noises sort of like you described, and that bracket got bent just enough to lightly rub on the disk, once i bent it back it was fine again. welcome to the life of a reliable 1 series owner

Love this, but I disagree on how they say the back seat is small! I drove up to Lake Placid and back with my lady, and her pregnant sister in the back seat, who is 6 feet tall, along with two snowboards through the fold down... a solid 300 miles each way! This car can stand up to the test haha
sidenote I pulled that voyage off one day after rolling off the lot in my 128 |

Hahah, i remember driving a 3.5 hour each direction trip to a concert, my friend couldn't stop complaining about how horrible the back seats were. I agree with her, the back rests are basically plywood.. but that doesnt bother me so sucks for my passengers

The noise doesn't change dramatically with speed. It starts at ~5mph and stays constant. My deductive reasoning is that: -If it was related to wheel speed the pitch would change. -If it was related to door seals the pitch would change (although my passenger door does not sit flush with the body panels fore and aft of it - off by 1/8". Driver's door is perfectly flush) -If it was related to engine speed the pitch would change during gear change and acceleration. As it's constant I wonder if it's some sort of pump or belt that once moving stays at a constant speed. Then again, may well be the brakes! |

If it has the runflats it could possible be that, or even just regular bad tires. I suppose it could be a pump or something belt driven, maybe the waterpump since BMW ones are notorious for failing early?

Is my car considered a 128i in these forums? Definitely not a 135i so I guess since they only make 125i around these parts of the world I'll have to join you hooligans..
sorry for the bad quality.. iPhone with some super tacky filters... clean roof! no sharkfin. Feels sportier imo... PS. HELLO FROM DUBAI! |

Time for you to get Evolve software to bump up the power 50hp to 130i levels. It is simply turning on a factory part, nothing dangerous. And yes, it is remote software so you will not need to drive to England from Dubai. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=778456

I agree, you need Evolve remote tune and you are set, you already have the best air intake.

My 128i's new look. e87 grille fitted
Eyelids to be painted asap. Also a new lip is in the works. I'll let it be a surprise, although there are hints...

No its not bold on...
Its more = Cut sides off, modify tabs, make holes for new tabs, use wires in 1-2 places to hold it better See the Cosmetic section's thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=26

Nice 128i. I like the eyelids, but my ocd always kicks in about these things. I think the eyelids would be perfect if the tail end meets at where the seam is for the hood. I really like how the line follows the front part of the hood, but when it goes to the back, it just ends a bit too low. In my opinion if it met at the hood, it will look legit! might not look as mean, but ocd me would love it.
