I did a quick check over at RealOEM.com... When I looked up a xeon headlight for a euro spec e82 (#63117181289) car and then did a part number search on that headlight it fits all the 1er models. e81, e82, e87 and e88. Dackel |

Per dectane's website, the lights on the white car use LEDs for the AEs. If you look back at the first page of this thread there are a few pics of a gray 1er that has these lights installed and it seems very clear that they are definitely LEDs and they appear to be lit in a manner similar to the OE ones; i.e., they aren't lit with 4 small bulbs each like the "Depo" lights also pictured in this thread.
I already contacted dectane for a shipping quote and I'll probably be ordering the chrom version within the next couple weeks. I wish they were more of a matte finish inside the housing, but I think I can learn to live with the chrome. Besides, they kind of resemble the E9X LCI headlights. |

Hmmm guys, the headlights (with 4 x T5) of the red one (Katja) are Depos! Just in the silver/gray version! (I guess she got it from here http://www.ad-tuning.de/shop/index.p...E81---E87.html)
My depos look very different at afternoon/night (older pictures) And here is another one with depos + standard bulbs for the rings And for the Sonar HL's As you can see here, there are some wires you need for rings http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/6196/dscf1272.jpg Rings turned on http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/413/dscf1273p.jpg http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1068/dscf1274z.jpg Ring wires http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/6346/dscf1277p.jpg |

Thanks Knob.
So your headlights - are they 4 X T5 as well like the Depos? And what brand are they? Do you think the Sonar ones are better (with the metal ring at bottom) or your ones? (with no metal ring at bottom). Especially during daylight. Are the rings clearly visible an bright in daylight? Also if you could find that link on 1erforum.de then I and others would really appreciate it as we can't read German Thanks a lot again to you and Dackelone for answering all our Q's! |

I got these LED`s http://www.fuers-auto.de/product_inf...per-White.html (W1.2W (W2x4.6d / T5))
They're a bit weaker as the original ones. You can't see spots on the sonar rings, they're just "whole" rings, but they're not that strong in daylight, but still visible, much better as the depo´s. For the wires, you got three red and three thin black wires: One for the right ring, another one for the left ring and one for LED above and between the rings (they're pretty bright and could dazzle other car drivers..) The red wires are plugged in into the plus of the stand light (if you want the rings as stand light). There is a cover on the high beam light, if you look at the wires (just right unter the high beam bulb) and follow them a bit you can see a black and a white wire: White is PLUS+ and Black is MINUS-. Now you need something like this: The black wire of the LED rings get together with the black stand light wires. You can cut the white standlight wire and plug the red LED wires with them RED LED ---> WHITE Standlight BLACK LED ---> BLACK Standlight Kinda like that... |

Hmm perhaps if the bulb from the Sonars could be modded/changed to a more stronger LED bulb or something (like the LUX H8 bulbs) then we could get the rings to be brighter in daylight
Also, no offense, but I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding your post. Maybe I need to analyze it a bit more. But what do you mean by "standlight" ? Thanks! |

One note to Knob's excellent post above (#52)...
"standlicht" or "stand light" or "city light" is what we in America would call "parking lights". On German EU spec cars when you turn on the parking lights (or when the headlights are on!) there is a "city light" - ie they light up the reflectors. In Germany and EU they don't have the ugly orange (parking lights) that we have to have in the USA. And as we know... on BMW's they use the Agel Eyes are a 'stand licht" over here. The photo he posted is of a electrical connector - which is very common used in German electronics and hardware stores. Dackel |

Thanks guys
I've been using Google Translate to follow this thread on 1erforum.de and it seems there are quite some criticisms about the DECTANE (i.e Sonar) Headlights. Translated (half) English Link: http://translate.google.co.za/transl...en-US:official German Link: http://www.1erforum.de/tuning/neue-a...r-35854-2.html More specifically, the 6th post down made by "Madin" on pg 10 is concerning.. Well... IF you want OEM quality there is always new euro spec BMW headligts.
I think they run about 500 euros EACH per side. Not sure what all else you would need. Or what comes with them. You can look up the headlights here... http://bmwfans.info/ $1,500 OEM vs $500 for OE like! |

I can see they have black and chrome... black is too dark IMO. chrome is matt aluminum finish... am I correct? cuz that's what I am aiming for like katja's. Can someone confirm about this. btw, what is the difference of Sonar and Depo???? I am lost now. All I want is Katja's headlight with same exact setup (stock bulb color look) |

http://www.ad-tuning.de/shop/ I think you need to create an account before you can see what they sell. Kind of strange. ? I think these are the same lights. Knob correct me IF I am wrong. They look the same to me as the lights on Katja's red car. https://www.dectane.de/product_info....---chrome.html Dackel PS: IF you can wait two weeks -I will be sure to take many pictures at the Essen Motor Show. I will most likely go there. Detane will have three different displays there at the show. |

Look in my post, there is a link to ADTuning, but here is it again: These are Katjas Headlights http://www.ad-tuning.de/shop/product...---Silber.html
Just like mine, only in Silver. And again: Depo Headlights (with 4 LED Bulbs per ring): Sonar Headlights: "Do you mean that the red and black wires for the LEDs need to be spliced with the yellow and black wires as shown in the red box in this pic?" No. They need to "spliced" with the white and black wires of YOUR car (with the parking light wires, so you get the ring shining as soon as the parking lights, or "stand lights" are on). Hi Guys,
I heard back from Katja, here is what she had to say... Dackel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AW: depo's... Hi, I think, Dectane manufacture and sell it... AD-Tuning is only a online shop wich is selling it too. There are certainly many other vendors who sell the headlights. I do not know all. Regards Katja |

I don`t think there is already a wire for that, which is "plug and play" read, so you have to cut the wire coming from the car and splice it together with the ones for the headlights.
