why are the inner rings brighter than the outer ones, is it because of the one bulb in each headlight thing that Larry mentioned? And is there any way around it, i know for e46's you could just buy a kit so that's always an option right? TIA

The 8500k are only very very very slightly bluer. It's hard to tell with my eyes. You almost can't tell the difference. As far as brightness, they look the same. I was very surprised.

Great Pics Chris!!!! That comparison should be in it's own thread...nice job!!! I have already order the 7500 and was considering also getting 8500 to see the difference, but now that I see they are so close the 7500 will do just fine. Thanks for saving me some $$$.

That was my impression as well. The 8500k looks a fraction bluer, and maybe even slightly brighter...but I'm going to stick with the 7500k.

Appreciate the thread Chris! Can't wait to see this in action  Either of you have pics of the "bitch clip"/oil cooler lines so the rest of us know what we have to work with?

The bitch clip is no joke. Its so bad i lost mine at the bottom of the engine. Im either going to remove the plastic undercover this weekend or just buy a new clip. Any idea where I can get one? I should be able to get one at the dealer right?
In any event the lights look bad ass and well worth the lost clip! |

A few tips for this mod...
1. Definitely do the driver's side first. It's about 10x easier and you'll sort of know what you're doing when the shit hits the fan (or the oil cooler hoses) on the passenger side. 2. Wear a golf glove or something similar... there are some sharp plastic edges that you'll be fighting with in a very tight space, and it will also help you avoid accidentally touching the bulbs with your skin/oil/dirt. 3. When you're fighting to get the bitch clip snapped back into place, use your other hand to keep steady pressure on the large plastic bulb cover the entire time... that will help prevent the clip from popping out on the underside, which only happened to me 2x before I figured that out. Took me about 35 minutes, and I'm a very amateur modder. Good luck! |

I just installed the 8500k on Sunday and it looks a bit dimmer than stock bulbs. It does look nice though! Just need to get rid of those amber corners now....
The install took me about 15 minutes...the Driver's side was very very easy ( < 5 minutes ), but the passenger's side took the most time. Most of the time was just trying to freaking put the cover back on. I thought getting the right ear in was the hardest part, since theres all those wires in the way. |

yup. i have zero mod experience and it wasn't very hard at all. the passenger side cover is a complete PITA but it isn't confusing ... just a pain.
