Timbo, I get 13/litres per 100 with day to day driving and the car sits under 100 all the time. When I had it dyno'd with Zuzu and spdrcr the dyno operator commented my car ran cooler then the others... I think Jeff/Joe would remember them saying that?

I know this is probably a dirty word, but who insures modified BMWs?

It wont increase the boost running 102 it will just allow more timing without detonation. But if the tune is already setup ping free on 98 octane it most probably wont effect it at all and just a waste of money. Unless of course if you go back and get a specific tune map setup for 102 octane then it would benefit just have to remember to switch the map back when your running 98 or good bye engine. Doesn't take much at all for detonation to destroy an engine in turbo cars.

Drove hard today and it didnt push past 100, it gets to 120 occasionally but usually around 90.
Driving the car this morning, I had the e-diff on. I was in 2nd gear doing about 40, I nailed the car in a dead straight line and the whole car just spin the wheels and did a little fish tail. This car has SO much power , my girlfriend was passenger said the increase in power was VERY VERY noticable. |

I'm waiting to see how the these cars handle sitting in a traffic jam with 43 degree temps outside in the middle of January? It is interesting watching the coolant and oil temps, the coolant quickly rises to about 100 within a few minutes and stays there until the oil temp gets to mid 90's then the coolant drops to about 95 and slowly rises as the oil temp gets to 100 and then even if the oil temp goes above 110 the coolant rarely goes higher than 101-102.

Install a larger intercooler if it gets to be a problem added bonus would be greater airflow and allowance for more timing. |
