Ah hell now I am beginning to feel too young at 42.
Age is not going to matter. We all love our 1 Series and are there to share a few hours of fun. Thats all that matters  |

I will be getting a UHF radio today (probably from Jaycar) as they seem to be the cheapest I've found. What wattage do most of you have. I was thinking of the Digitech .5 watt CAT. NO. DC1026 pair sold for $109.00. Supposed to be good for up to 5km. At least with a pair, I can use them elsewhere as well.
Anyone have these? |

I'm sure Yep135 can beat that price, oldman. Save your purchase for next Sunday.
0.5W UHF is fine. I have no problems with mine.

I was ready to go and get a CB today and my son was reading the thread on the screen and says to me. "Would you like to borrow my UHF radio for next weekend" I did'nt even know he had one, but it turns out he got a Uniden one with one of his friends a while ago so new batteries and I'm ready to roll.

No worries Tim. It's done.
BTW, I heard on local ABC radio this morning that there is some road works happening on the Tourist Road between Robertson and Bowral. I am trying to confirm this and find out exactly where it is. I usually use this road on the drives.

I lived there for a number of years. We can go on Kangaloon Road if the roadworks are on the main highway section before the Kangaloon turnoff. It's a good fun little road and I was planning to see if yep 135 wants to go that way as we are meeting in Bowral and heading from Bowral to the Pie Shop to meet the rest of you.
Anyway, we can report on the status either way when we all meet up. |

Get some strong Uniden. I like to go on cruises before and found that 0.5W is good if you are in a line. It is not when you are in the winding road, particularly when you are the first one warning people about cops!
Get a 1W or 2W

Thanks Keith. I know both the Tourist Road and Kangaloon Road very very well. My regular weekend blat features Macquarie Pass, turn right onto Tourist Road, left onto Sheepwash Road, left again onto Kangaloon Road, into Robertson, right onto Jamberoo Mountain Road, down Jamberoo Pass and back home to Albion Park ... or variations thereof. If the roadworks are not too intrusive then we'll be doing some or all of this on Sunday ... in addition to a run in/out/in/out of Kangaroo Valley. So any intel you can provide at the Pie Shop would be most appreciated!
