wow, great stuff Dan. I see you wasted no time with tuning the car up
The car doesn't need much done but if I'm headed to the track the pads are going to have to get replaced. Stock pads are always too soft for track use and I'm a big fan of late braking. The wheel studs are lighter and stronger and I'm so used to having them on the race car it made sense to install them on this car. I may put some 8 or 10 mm spacers on it so rather than deal with longer lugs the studs seemed the right way to go.

What are you changing your brake pads to? Something with less dust producing properties?
Dust is the least of my concern. Performance is #1. Performance Friction 01's.

It isn't harsh at all. BMW obviously spent a lot of time getting it right. Keep in mind I live in an area where the roads are in excellent condition. I did drive over to Chattanooga and drove some bumpy roads but the car soaked them up very well, especially considering the 19's wheels and the profile of the tires. My 2 year old daughter had no complaints and fell asleep for the entire ride home.

I do it on my M Coupe by jacking up from under the subframe. Don't see why I wouldn't do same when I get my 1M.

I think a more important question would be how he got that car seat in there lol.

But to answer, you just jack up one side of the car at the jack point and use another jack to jack up the whole front using the center jack point under the front axel.
Or, what I do is jack up one side and set a ramp under that wheel. Then procede to use the center jack pad. For the rear, people use the diff cover.

Haha. I put a nice pad under the car seat to protect the leather and it stays in the car. I would not want to take it out often so I bought one just for the car. My daily driver is a Jetta TDI and when I put my daughter in it the other day she pointed at the 1M and said, "Go in M!" When I explained we were taking the TDI she was not happy at all. It's not all fun and games though. She told me to be careful and slow down the other day. 2 years old and a back seat driver already!

In a great thread, that might be the best post.

Love the ///M...

Only thing I dislike about under the hood is the cover that says, "powered by m" where's the s54 was just //M. Granted this is tuned by //M instead of being an //M specific motor. Great undercarriage though, very tidy!

That's awesome!

I also have a Jetta TDI & have been mulling a 1M, M3, or used M Coupe.

Your comments and observations are helpful.

Thanks

I don't mind what it says but it seems upside down to me. When the engine was hot I pulled up a corner with my fingers and it is just stuck on. I'm flipping it over the next time the engine is hot and I have the tool handy. Silly but it's bugging me.

Yes it is. I installed it and the intake scoops last night. We hope to dyno the car in the next week or 2 so I'll put the factory box back in first.
I have really enjoyed Dinan mods to my 335I and was wondering if you were planning on using Dinan exhaust or ECU mods that he will produce for the 1M?
