Thanks again! I went in today for an oil change and the dealer replaced my plugs @ 41K. During my previous visit I mentioned the fact that the plugs need to be replaced at 45K mi...they hesitated and said it should be 100K.

Old thread I know but may help 2011 owners of 128i.
My manual plainly says spark plugs 60k or 4th oil change and air filter every 3rd oil change. I found my dealer did neither of them, they just go off key. I trusted them but appears you have to micro manage them. Air filter is now 4 years old, 5 oil changes and 37000 miles on it in a desert area!! I have never heard of any car having a filter that long. They have changed the book since 2009 and reduced the time of replacement so they must have had issues with warranty in the past yet dealers are ignoring it. BMW would not change their manuals they send in the cars for no reason. |

So heres BMW clarification, (Its either or) mileage or oil changes but they do not count low mileage oil changes which are a yearly one only the mileage ones so I have only had two in theory!!! even though they paid for all of them. so they count oil changes every 14000 miles so every 4th one would be 56000miles in their books so no spark plugs changed. The air filter is the same so only changed at 45000miles at their cost. that's why the key does not read for a replacement. No car should be 45000 on an air filter in the desert so getting a K&N and cleaning it myself from now on.

I realize this post by you is quite old but I wanted you to know that in my 2010 128i owners manual it shows 135i's (n54) as being 45,000 miles and 128i's (n52) to be 60,000 miles. Quite surprised no one is looking directly at the manual here on this post 4 years ago...it's all in there. |

You guys are lucky. BMW/Mini overseas military sales covers nothing unless it breaks.. You pay for all maintenence youself. I believe this is why the Military gets a discount.
(No free mantenence = Military discounted sales price)

That's not why you get the discount. If you return your car to the States within the warranty period, you get the free maintenance. In fact, you can purchase the car overseas at the discounted price, have it delivered in the US, and have free maintenance from Day 1. Not only that, but the Military Sales program long predates the free maintenance program offered by BMWNA.

This is why I don't even bother with my "free" maintenance anymore.
More headache than it is worth. Just do it all myself, and at least I know exactly what has been done, and that it has been done properly. |

+1 to that. I am not going to let the dealer change my oil anymore and do it myself. My last "free" change ended up costing me hours of wasted time and one day with a loaner.

After getting ripped for a battery which I thought was covered by the warranty, I'm taking care of the "free" stuff myself... The stealership can eat it.

My car is due for service now at ~15,000 miles and I was wondering what the dealer even does at the 15,000 mile service?
Do they just change the oil and that is it? No filter changes (air or cabin)? What about brake fluid? See no point in even going in, if it only entails an oil change. |

Sent and email to my SA and he said the CBS is supposed ask for it. Just checked my manual since my car just hit 45k and it says 4th oil change or 60k miles.
However it has all the "is" models listed at 45k. Guess I'll just DIY.
