Tires are the only part of your car that actually touches the ground. Last thing im ever gonna do is cheap out on them. BTDubs, the LTXs on my Merc are amazing A/S tires. Those tires are unbeatable in the snow, although I think that might be a function of the car and not so much the tires. |

I just got Kuhmo's on my car this summer after bubbling all 4 tires while in NYC.
I've driven lots and lots and lots of tires. Though they are not French good...I'm simply amazed how quiet and how grippy and how nice they were in the summer. |

At this point I buy nothing but Michelin. I've tried many others and I'm simply disappointed every time I do.

Not all Kumho tires are terrible. My WRX originally came from the factory with all season Bridgestone Potenza RE92's which were absolute garbage. I replaced them with some all season Kumho ASX's that were far superior all around. However, I have dedicated summer and winter tires for that car now.

Nothing beat the all around livability of the PS2s though. The grip of the star specs is nice, but they are a bit harsh on a daily basis. |

a good set of blizzaks
With the proper tires, the limits change from the tires to the hight of the car. 4-5" of snow is about maximum that I would try as the bottom of the car leave a smooth path behind me.

Michelin Alpin PA4 snows were co-developed with Porsche and are in a whole different league than the already exceptional PA3 snows. Sadly they only come in 18"+ sizings.

I cracked one of my OEM 264s a few years back and decided fuck it 18s and skinny rubber have no place in the NYC area! |

17"s are better either way, so no loss there. Just sometimes limited in tire choices.

I use hakkapeliita R snows on my e92. Do you know how they compare to the pa4 or pa3 snows? I will need to buy new snows next winter for the new vert.

Much worse than the PA4 and a bit worse than the PA3. Recently got a good bit of seat time with a friend's ZHP and they were much worse in terms of performance driving.
