If this fits the N55, the furlough might not interrupt my plans for a FMIC.

Just installed yesterday. Won't keep you in suspense. YES IT FITS! Originally I ordered a 5 inch and was sent a 7 inch by mistake. So you can imagine my frustration at first when I'm trying to slide this thing in there and it just won't fit. Thankfully I have a dremmel so I could shave off the plastic inside the front bumper cover. However I think I may have to shave more because I'm having a hard tome getting the factory mounting screws tight. But with the extra L shape pipe they send you it will work. But I suggest maybe that they include one more rubber coupling for where the L shape pipe connects into the charge pipe. Right now it's just going into the plastic with the clamp and seems to be sealed well but can never be too sure. Doesn't feel like I have any boost leak but can be very slight.
Impressions are.........uh-fucking-mazement. Let me see. The easiest way to describe the difference is basically like if your car never heats up. You know once it heats up an gets good an warm it feels just a tad slower. Well I don't feel that anymore. Even after multiple pulls. Even after getting off the highway so u know the car is good an warm. Did another pull an still felt just as peppy as right after startup. So does it actually make it faster????? I'd say not so much. But you definitely feel the difference after the car warms up where it normally becomes sluggish but not now. I will add pics in a bit of the pipes but ill apologize now for the shitty quality. The car was on jack stands an not much room an trying to hold a flashlight makes for shitty pics. In these first 3 pics you can see the stock lower charge pipe in black and the upgraded one that comes with the FMIC in silver ![]() ![]() ![]() Passenger side rubber coupling for FMIC inlet side ![]() Upgraded lower charge pipe installed on drivers side. It can be hard ro tell looking at it I know but if you follow the silver up and see the light thats the top of the engine bay and the hood was open. Up top is where it connects to the upper charge pipe ![]() Drivers side FMIC connected to upgraded lower charge pipe. Hard to tell I know ![]() And Passenger side FMIC connected to charge pipe coming from turbo ![]() Again please forgive me for the picture quality. All I had to take pics with at the time was my ipad and I had to hold a flash light and aim at the sime time lol.

so i installed my 7" today and also installed a ER upper charge pipe as well, but im getting some weird behavior from the car. Anytime im cruising and drop it into neutral to coast, as the rpms fall, its almost like the car forgets its running and barely manages to hold idle revs. its been idling below normal (like 600ish) and sometimes when i drop it into neutral, it doesn't idle hard enough and just stalls out. I used WD40 to lubricate some of the silicone so it would move on the piping easier.
my guess is im having a boost leak somewhere from some poorly coupled part (very likely) or some of the WD40 got shot onto the TMAP sensor and is causing weird idleing and throttle behavior (not sure how likely). When im in map 1 though, the in dash boost gauge does read that i hit 12 psi like i should, but it hits it kinda slow and way later into the rev band than normal. Anyone got any ideas what might be goin on? I know i gotta get under the car again, just wana know where to start. |

It might be but the JB4 is on auto clear, so I'm gonna have to turn it off and check. If its a boost leak, any ideas as to a good way to isolate which coupler it's leaking from?
Also tiago, the two large screws included were meant to replace the stock screws when securing the intercooler correct? |

Correct.
I'd confirm that the t-bolt clamps are placed right after the beads on the intercooler and charge pipes. The best way to do a boost leak test is to use an actual boost leak tester. |

Turns out I forgot to transfer the o-ring from old charge pipe to new one, so it was a boost leak. Solved in 20 minutes thanks to someone else's thread about lack of an o-ring. I'll put in my review on the 7" tonight after I get some highway runs.
First impressions? Pretty solid. |

Mine lines up pretty perfectly but that's because I cut a lot of the plastic out of the way. In retrospect I would've gone with the 5" cause cutting plastic for a few hours with a pair of sheers when you dremmel dies is...not fun. But I did just get back from some highway runs with the 7". I added a few gallons of e85 and set my jb4 to map 5. I did pull after pull after pull for a good 45 minutes of highway driving and I don't recall noticing any drop in performance. Jorb well done VRSF. Fits easily and perfectly, can't go wrong for the price. Again, in retrospect I'd go with a 5" cause cutting plastic without a dremmel
is a pain in the ass and I feel like I'm disrespecting my car by cutting away pieces of it like that, but I'm certainly happy to have added performance benefit of the 7". Also, I don't think I noticed any change in turbo sounds or whatever when I fixed my boost leak, but that's cause my leak was right at the throttle body, and not anywhere in the piping before it. |
