My vents did that but not my door locks. I think UV light does that to the plastic. 303 Aerospace Protectant blocks UV and doesn’t leave oily residue like Armor All. Once it gets that way I don’t know how to recover the plastic. 303 keeps it from getting worse though.

Low washer fluid (the tank has a leak and I don't feel like removing the fender) and TPMS isn't working (no sensors in the wheels, yet).

Yes it does...
My wife has a Pearl White 370Z and the paint looks stunning. I'd take a pic of it to post here but you can hardly see the pearl in photos plus it's pretty dirty right now. I need to get off my lazy ass and wash it, and MINE TOO! lol |

Mine is also about halfway to needing a wash, but I'm having some work being done on the domicile which is commencing this weekend, and it will require the entire fleet to be outside for a bit. No point in washing when they're all going to get dirty in a few hours. I'll have to wait roughly a month before I bother washing anything.

So ran into a pretty major issue. Apparently DCT cars have a transmission radiator in front of the engine radiator (right behind the kidneys). And with that, the transmission radiator has steel lines running all across both sides of the engine radiator. Essentially, this causes a bottleneck, so I can't shimmy the engine radiator out of the car. Trust me, there's no way it's coming out. Only way to do so is to the drain your transmission fluid, disconnect the steel lines, and THEN you might have room to take out the old radiator. So now I'm conflicted. I don't have transmission fluid, nor do I have time to make this into a 2-3 day project with buying the fluid... Soooo i reinstalled the crummy old radiator. Now I'm forced with the dilemma if it's worth the hassle to install and do a coolant flush again, or if I should just sell the CSF radiator. It's not like I track my car. I only hit the canyons maybe once a month. Not sure yet. Wrapped up the rest of the big stuff. Did both of the OFHG, installed an aluminum chargepipe. Unfortunately wasted a lot of time with the radiator fiasco, so the rest of the reassembly will have to wait until morning |

330i front caliper carriers arrived from the UK.
Just waiting on the EBC Yellow Stuff and Ferodo DS Performance pads to arrive (spending 1 week at the ring so im packing more pads). Maybe early next week my KW V3 will be ready and installation will begin, fingers crossed! The whole hydraulic system has air, on the 21st i will be going to the DIY workshop and replacing transmission fluid, coolant flush, upgrade the front brakes, bleed the system (and the clutch). New Castrol SRF ordered as well. |

About a week on the MHD Stage 1 ACN91 tune.
Impressions haven't changed much. Smoother response. Fun (adjustable) burbles. One day, from ~75, accelerated so hard I reached for 5th. Was already in 6th! Yesterday, did the same from actual 4th gear. Took off so hard I came up on the guy ahead of me quite a bit quicker than anticipated. Overall, I'm not sure it's all that much faster than stock (325bhp vs 300?) But from a roll, response is quite impressive. And for the price!?! Very pleased.

Got all the trim besides the large rear piece done. That will take a different sized sheet of vinyl than I had. Love the gloss black trim so much better. Also put on the stubby antenna

Today was a wonderful sunny winters day to be driving my little vert - top down, seat warmer and heater on full, ducking and weaving between highway traffic on my trip home from the airport. It was one of those days that reminded me how much I love this car.
Of course, my little N54 knew I was feeling this way, so it's politely requested I spend another few grand on its upkeep. Upgraded turbos were never on my list. I just wanted to get the most out of the stock platform; just open it up a bit and let it breathe. I found out today that our cars have an absolutely amazing exhaust note if your turbo wastegate(s) stay open. It's deep and throaty and loud. Just wonderful. .... of course, the downside is you don't get boost, so that's a problem. ... and if one of your wastegates work but the other doesn't, you've got one turbo trying to provide twice as much air as it's spec'd for to the engine. Which is also a problem. (Thankfully I worked out what was going on before I blew a turbo... ) [Edit: I also learnt today that JB4 has a map 8. It's practically undocumented, but it's there. Map 8 is a N/A (zero boost) secret map. And it turns out there is, in fact, a legitimate use for it. Take that "JB4 is worthless now we have MHD" Facebook people!] So now I'll have to hoist the thing up and hopefully there's a cheap and simple fix to get this wastegate unstuck... otherwise my plans for suspension upgrades this year are on hold... RB Turbos, here I come... Last edited by xQx; 06-15-2018 at 07:35 AM.. |
