V2 stepped makes marginally less power but fits on RHD cars and works with the stock section 2 if desired. Non stepped e46 fitment header... is a relic, I don't know why they still offer it. Anyone who buys it is a fool, as it makes less hp and torque at every RPM. Amusingly, most ebay replica headers are based on these. The steps are a pretty significant design feature the alter the flow... which, imo, make them nothing like the n52 header (which isn't to say the N52 header should be stepped, I'm sure they tested that-- seems to be very high RPM engines that really benefit from the steps). Good read on header design, if you have some time: http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine...technology.htm

Well we can all agree on the poor finish. It was the first thing that caught my eye!
They are however very cheap! And, most of all, we have experienced some 128i love! This piece is also on the Schmiedmann website: Is this just added weight or does it really improve the handling? Only 125 bucks here in Holland! Post edit: How about these carbon.. (i'm sorry I do not know the english words for it) floors for the e82: http://www.motorsport24.de/motorspor...1er::1939.html Now there is a lot of racing stuff on here, rollcages, lightweight doors, bubble hoods, carbon roofs, racing wheels, carbon centre console, carbon dashboards and more. Enjoy guys Last edited by Pothole; 01-04-2014 at 10:57 AM.. Reason: Found more love :) |

Brace looks interesting, though I'm sure shipping will crush you in the states.
The carbon fiber only looks applicable for race use. |

The metal brace interests me, my stock one is bent to shit after i ran over a giant rock. it also claimed a little chunk my diff and dented all sorts of things.

The brace is a great find, it can be found on ebay much cheaper because the mfg accepts on occasion a Best offer.
The 335i had one made by some vendor here, it was massive.

The question is, is it actually beneficial. Modern BMW chassis designs are pretty damn stiff, stock.

Interesting development..
Try to drive the same road for a few days before the install.

I think it's interesting. Subaru owners understand chassis bracing all too well, and they are known for having a rigid body. I'm very interested to see just how much of an improvement this brace will give. I fear it's a waist of 125 bucks and 20 pounds. I could be way wrong though. Front and rear subframe braces on my wrx made a night and day difference, but made EVERY panel in the car rattle and vibrate like crazy. Keep us posted!

Lol very true! I hated how cheap my wrx felt. BMW 128i's are more fun and WAY better in terms of quality. Did you get me pm?

Based on images, the Schmiedmann S-Tech isnt equal length to the collector. SS manages to be more equal length.
I know e46fanatics were interested in Schmiedmann header + midpipe set up, some may have install them. Do you recall their experiences?

No one came through (from what I remember), but equal length from my experience, doesn't change higher RPM power, but it does add some more lower end torque.

You aren't going to eyeball pressure wave velocity, pulse timing, or any of the other multitude of factors that go into proper header design. These discussions really need to be divided into two categories. Those that remove the cat in the headers, and those that do actual R&D into a performance header.
