Most dealers will not update your SW unless there is a problem to fix or a repair that involves an update. Sometimes the sw updates are a pain bc hardware can fail or fail to take the update. So its just easier not to bother - unless its really called for.

Adding my two cents. I had the update installed last week. Prior to that I had the issue a lot of others have noted with idling, lag, stalling, etc.
I can report that the update fixed all of that. The car is basically back to what it was supposed to be and the idling, lag, etc. issues are completely gone. If you experience those get to the dealer and get the update. |

This is great news. This issue drove me crazy when I first bought this car. I tried several times to get the dealer to fix it with no real luck. I followed some of the similar threads in the past and had the DME updated to the latest back in June. It solved the car stalling issue, but the throttle response issue never went away (most noticeable with AC on and decelerating to a stop then trying to go again). Basically noting would happen for 1.5 seconds and then the car would surge forward.
I don't want to get too excited over this since I was told the last update would fix it too, but I have my fingers crossed. Thanks a lot to e36addict for letting us know about the SI B 12 15 14, hopefully my dealer will admit to having the update. |

@e36addict Do you know if anything similar can be applied to the manual trans cars? We have the same issue but it just isn't quite as bad because it doesn't cause us to completely stall out. Poor throttle response and delay in throttle input especially along with slightly fluctuating idle, especially w/ AC on.

I think I'm in love with this sw update after seeing the video and all that burbling!!! I just want to take my car in and request it, I'm tired of the forward surges.

I don't know if you'll get the overrun sounds w/o PPK1 or other mods like the OP has

Maybe I'll get twice the snap crackle and pop then. Way cool.

Did it have any effect on the rolling stop throttle lag issue? I'm getting mine updated on 10/14 as well as the VANOS bolt recall done, and I'm so looking forward to seeing the results of the new SW.

This is also what I am most interested about. It's the biggest annoyance with the DCT.

When I took my car to get the Vanos recall fixed, they also updated my software. My dct was lagging and had rpm spike while AC was on.
I noticed after the software update, the burble and backfire my car use to make is less pronounced and pretty much gone. I don't know which software they used to update my car. Anyway to check? |

Not sure about a way to check, though shouldn't it say what software they did on your itemized sheet they gave you? I have an appointment with my dealership next Tuesday to get this update. |
