I've tested that part already, I'm not completely irresponsible. Push in the clutch and hold the start/ stop button for a second or two and it kills the motor.

Good you know that holding it down will turn it off. I'd only tried pressing it. I wonder if you can change it in NCS Expert to single press switch off... would be helpful in case you're mid corner and it fails. |

New flash sitting in my e mail. I'm already so happy this is working the thought of it getting even better is awesome. What do you guys want to see? I was thinking maybe pull the hood and get some engine diving shots. I'm just not the filming type of guy, I need a YouTuber to help. I try to film stuff but it's like, just sad and hard to watch. Sorry guys, ideas appreciated.

I'd just like to hear more about determining the fuel without the airflow or MAP sensor. What does the tuner have to say about the accuracy of the maps over a freezing cold start running flat out on a 95F day.

Engine runs "closed loop" all the time. In fact the EU versions don't even have a functioning MAF. |

Well, I monitor the AFRs while driving using torque pro and he's got the maps pretty good. I'm sure he's tuned enough modified N52s he could map it well with no sensors. It sits outside and has ran in -15°f and 85°f rain, shine, or snow so far with minimal issues.

This is such a great thread, I love mods like this.
Did you do anything in the valvetrain(springs, etc) to rev to 7700 rpm, or are you running all stock parts? I would love to see a dyno so we can see the torque curve. I am super interested to compare it to a 3 stage manifold torque curve and see how this performs in the top end! Great work! |

Nope no internal motor work done. These motors are so cheap I wanted to keep it simple to do a junkyard swap, so it's just bolt ons and DME flash. I would love to see a dyno as well. Flashed a new tune rev.4 just the other day, and the butt dyno says it just picked up a big chunk after 3500 rpm. Alas, my O2 sensors are at their end of life, so can't push real hard right now, but new ones showing up soon and we'll see then.

Oh happy day. I think we're almost there on the tune. New O2 sensors helped. Bob raised the idle a little bit with some other adjustments and now down low is much smoother and drivable. There is a new issue with significant leaning out above 5000rpm, but it's ran up there no problem on previous tunes, so I think that's an easy fix. I'm holding off on some accessory projects (hood vents, cold air ducting, etc.) until the tune is nailed down, but hoping for a busy summer.

Dyno will come whenever Bob would like to see one. My ultimate goal here isn't big HP numbers, I'm really more concerned with how it drives, sounds, and delivers whatever power it's gonna make. However, I'd really like to see what the cut up stock manifold does before I make my own set of custom trumpets. I think the relatively thick plastic sounds a little dull. I may get a little musical and spin my own brass horns. Once I get some good pulls logged I'll let you see them.

Waaaaay over my budget, but freaking awesome. I wanted to keep the valvetronic functional. I love standard ITBs, but I love the idea that there are 12 little ones built right into the head. I would say that is the N52 block distilled down to its purest form and is absolutely beautiful. Where can I see more?

We know this is never going to make big power but we'd love to see what happens to the power curve. How much bottom end do you loose? What are the gains at the top? |

So it's looking like the stock injectors are at their limits. I didn't think we'd run into that, but here we are. The bottom end feels great up to 4500rpm then can't get enough fuel. Waiting on confirmation from Bob to order up the S65 injectors. Anyone know do the higher hp (260ish) European N52s have different injectors?

Catless headers, stock resonator, muffler delete, some oval-shaped muffler tip (I'm pretty sure it's for a diesel truck). It's all just placeholder junk really, until the motor gets sorted. I'll classify my sound right now as temporarily acceptable.

how did you come to the conclusion about the injectors? datalogs of injector duty cycle? I'm also surprised to hear that the n52 injectors are maxed out.
