Great results Justin!! That car of yours is a beast, and is responding very nicely to the mods... certainly one of the stronger cars I have had the pleasure of working on. The engine just loves it, and this can be seen by the consistency. The car will pull run after run within a 1-2 kW of the previous... no power fluctuations indicating knock correction. It just responds textbook as it should to the tuning changes.
This is also the first time I have dynoed the latest DIC maps, and they are certainly the best I have worked with. For the record... I did not drive the dyno in any way. Dale did all dyno operation. I just turned up to dial in the meth settings on the Procede. I was not sure how the CM meth system would work, but surprisingly, the settings are almost identical to what I use with the Vishnu (Labonte) meth system, and the results are also similar. Previously on meth cars I have worked on, we normally get around 35-45kW extra with meth on top of where it was without meth, and this result is pretty much spot on that. For the record, our CPS ignition timing control made a big difference to the response of the meth. Simply squirting the meth with existing tuning settings did result in improved power to a point, but adjustment of timing allowed the engine to respond to higher volumes of meth particularly at very high RPM (peak power), and also provided a seamless transition from no-meth to meth, as the Procede is adjusting timing in response to meth flow. Were you able to get the car out of the workshop for a test drive?? Adrian |

Very nice figures Justin. That's a strong 1er you have there.
The 300 is just a number but we would all like to see it. I'll be getting the coolingmist version X soon. Really interested to see what meth adds to my existing 269rwkw. |

Wow, so am I thinking correctly that you made 295rwkw with just the tune, meth and intake?

thank you for taking the time to detail some of the finer points and observations, of the tuning session last night. Looking at the power and torque curves of the final pull, they certainly are a beautiful thing. Unfortunately I couldn't persuade Peter and Dale to clear the many vehicles that were blocking the exit of the workshop, it was after 8pm by the time we had finished up, so that's cool. |

With regards the 300 rwkw figure, you are correct in that, it "is just a number". However the "number" that interests me, is the "delta" over the stock baseline. As it stands right now, we are looking at a gain of 104 rwkw. You will be very happy with the latest Cm kit, from what I have read the fail safe system is further improved, over the kit I installed. |

Hey,
I will be able to tell you soon enough. The car is still down at Advan Performance. I am hoping to have the downpipes and the cat back exhaust, installed by the end of the week. Pending the weather on the weekend, I will be doing a lot of, ummm, "testing". |

Love this thread! You know you have a serious build thread when there is not 1 picture of the actual car, just dyno sheets. Another tell tail sign of someone who isn't here to fu@# spiders is the ambient temp of the dyno cell. Dude i love your work!
Good luck with the build! |

Hey Gents,
the below overlay graph, details 4 pulls. The black power curve represents the "stock'ish" baseline figure, of 191.9 rwkw. The pink power curve illustrates the power figure following the PROcede install running on Map 2, which was 250.3 rwkw. The blue power curve shows the introduction of a moderate amount of Meth, which resulted in 259.9 rwkw. The PROcede was still running on Map 2, (not Map 4). This was purely to determine that the Coolingmist kit was operating correctly, nothing more. Lastly the red power curve is the result of the PROcede now running on Map 4, with boost and in particular timing optimized for substantial Meth flow. Obviously the outcome was 295.8 rwkw. I should mention that the boost target level for Map 4, was set to 16 psi. However on the last pull it peaked a little higher, with a boost level very close to 17 psi at maximum power. Clearly the engine itself, responded well to the additional 1 psi of boost. However I do not wish to push the stock turbos beyond 17 psi. So I will be retaining a boost target of 16 psi on Map 4, even when I am at "full bolt-on". From the research I have done, the efficiency of the stock turbos falls away quite rapidly beyond 17 psi, with the money number being 16.5 psi (+ or -). |

The huge decrease in IAT's allows for excellent knock suppression, as evidenced by the very linear power curve. No dips, no peaks, it just keeps climbing. Cheers mate. Stay tuned, more updates to come... |

Hey Gents,
here are the dyno results following the fitment of the ar design Ceramic Coated catless downpipes and a Berk Technology Full Street Performance exhaust. FYI, in the 3 graphs there are two different pulls being compared. That being run 40 and run 55. Run 40 was with the catless downpipes, prior to the installation of the catback exhaust. The peak power figure obtained was 308.8 rwkw. The pink power line in graph one, clearly tops out above the green of 303.0 rwkw. However have a look at the air-fuel ratio across the entire pull. Whilst the engine was making more power pre catback exhaust, it was also running anywhere from a 1/4 point to 1/2 a point leaner. Dale purposefully richened up the AFR's with the use of Meth, as we considered it prudent to err on the side of caution at this stage. Adrian wasn't involved in the dyno tuning session yesterday. Dale was driving the vehicle and manipulating the AFR's, by adjusting the duty cycle of the Meth pump, via the CMGS controller. I will catch up with Adrian shortly, to discuss in detail the ideal AFR's on the Direct Injection N54 (particularly when making in excess of 300 rwkw). Lastly I was surprised to see, that the removal of the stock catback exhaust and the subsequent deletion of the catalytic converters in the midpipes, resulted in little to no power gains. Of course at the moment this is speculative, as the vehicle clearly lost power as result of adding more fuel to the burn. I am keen to see what numbers are obtained, if Adrian feels the AFR's could be a tad leaner. Anyway as of now, a figure or 303.0 rwkw results in a "delta" of 111.1 rwkw. We finally have some beautiful weather here in Sydney, so it's time to put away the dyno graphs and do some onroad "testing". Hmmm, should be interesting indeed... Lastly when time permits I will dig up a dyno graph, that illustrates the torque increase across the entire RPM range, post fitment of the catless downpipes. Cheers, JD.
