In talking to Cobb the answer is yes, Cobb will work on a car that has been flashed with the PPK software. However your car will be running on the perimenters set in the Cobb tune, not the PPK tune. When installing the Cobb you will be prompted to save the stock DME data. If you say yes your stock PPK flash will be saved and that will be the configuration of your DME if you uninstall Cobb. Always uninstall Cobb before taking your car to the dealer for service or some other problem. Most third party software change the performance data such as fuel mapping, timing ,boost, ect and keep many of the BMW engine safety features. Ckeck with Cobb as the are very helpful and would let you know what would be overwritten and what features would be retained.

I just got a quote from a dealer near Seattle of $890 for Stage 1 and $2610 for Stage 2 plus tax. These are higher than the other quotes I've seen here. Does anyone have any suggestion on working with dealers that are high on their quotes?

Not sure if I just got lucky and the dealer didn't know what he was talking about but I had the PPK installed on my 135 Tuesday and the they said the labor was included in the $599. Final price I paid was $643 w/tax.
Haven't had a real chance to test it though, my drive to work is only 2 miles. I plan on getting out this weekend and having some fun with it though. First impression is that it is worth every penny, especially at that price. |

I was able to negociate the PK v1 down to $500 +labor. I don't think that labor is included. Given that this is a fairly new release the dealers really don't know what to do yet. Mine didn't have a clue this was an option but we were able to work it out.

I've done a search and can't find that anybody with this PPK tune has performed a dyno.
Can anyone confirm or link one or go perform one??? Please. |

I'm not sure it's worth the time or money to dyno this "tune". I am enjoying the new found engine response. BMW should have just called this a lag fix and applied it like all their other SW updates but instead they make you pay for it.
I'm not complaining for the $600 that I spent I'm back to enjoying the motor as it was meant to be without the hassel of a aftermarket tune. The car is responsive right off 1st and roll-on power is much improved. I have not notice any appreciable decrease in mileage. I would say this update is everything they said it is and not much more. As stated before in other threads this is a good option for someone planning to keeping the car a while or planning on extending your warranty. There are more powerful tunes but this one seems to address the lag issues some people have noticed. This motor should come stock with this SW.

Getting mine done today as well. Went with the Version 2 for better coling and hopefully better reliability. Should know total cost and fun potential tonight or tomorrow.

I have an 08 135i and I cant even get the flash right now. I've been talking to this service advisor I dont even deal with him and he's been keeping me up to date with this issue, because my regular advisor is on vacation. I called him today and he told me BMWNA hasn't gotten back to him on how to do a flash on a non-sport vehicle. He said that they're probably coming up with a bulletin and will be another 2 weeks. For those who don't know my car didn't come with sport mode and it didnt come with the second oil coller, FML!
