Lol I'll be driving through Atlanta the day after...Doesn't matter though, as I don't think I'd have much time to stop anyway... Have fun guys!

estimated arrival to Clayton, GA?
That could be my turn-around since it's a 2 hour drive back to Atlanta from there (according to Google).

11:00 AM ish to Clayton
Only I'm adding a little wrinkle to the route posted...just south of Helen take right on Hwy 255 toward Batesville then left on Hwy-197N, right on US76 to Clayton. It's a better route and a little less time. Thanks Brady1984 for the map using Google...I use it all the time but I have got to learn to do multiple stops. Looks like five of us so far. Anyone else are welcome to meet us wherever you want on the way up or back down. Call

All,
I went ahead and updated the map with the new course. If you know some others who might want to follow along (even for a little bit) I think it would be great. If someone REALLY wants to get high speed I have mapped the route on BMW Routes (to see if I could) and you can export it to a flash drive and upload it to the 09 iDrive. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?doflg...,0.726471&z=11

Seriously, it was a great time! I am sure pics will begin to flow in shortly but a weekday, light traffic, incredibly twisty roads and 5 1addicts; come on!

I think you are talking about HWY 197 which took us by Batesville and Lake Rabun...one of my favs. You have got to go back up next time we go to Wayah Road...the others loved it.
We got to talking about a few other routes I know...one in particular is the Road To Nowhere...so I guess the next time I take a group up to the Dragon we will have to go thru Bryson City which will take us to The Road To Nowhere...nice story about the road, too. http://www.westernncattractions.com/rtnstory.htm Call

These sites can get you up to speed on the Fontana Dam area:
http://tailofthedragon.com/ http://www.cherohala.com/ http://www.killboy.com/ Here are a few pictures Killboy took of me while on the Dragon a few weeks ago. They are up on the Dragon every day and take photos of everyone who rides the rail so you can go to his website a day or so afterwards and view your photos and purchase any you find worth. He will send you a cd with high resolution photos and while you are waiting on the cd he allows you to download your purchases so you can start enjoying them right away.
