I just don't think 1er headlights look good in general, they are too blunt, hence why i got the biggest eyelids i could find. I like mine now, but most don't so i suppose its very different for everyone.

Speaking of headlights, I really need to replace mine. I bought my car used, the previous owner got very little additional options, and therefor I have the lowest of the low headlights. Would I be able to do a simple swap to angel eye headlights or would there be more work involved?

NOT bashing on a 128 since driving one was the reason i decided to buy a 135 in the first place.. meaning I liked the car that much I just wanted the turbos.
But now after driving my car and then getting a 128 as a loaner I'm a little confused. Is no one upset about the horrible gas mileage? I mean this thing guzzles gas. Just curious |

Regarding Eyelids - i used tape and found that the eyelid only to the hood line defeat the purpose of it. too subtle and looks angrier
Regrading front lip, really excited the test fit showed much less modification than I expected @Kontra a few options exist ( Depo/Sonar, Non auto agjusting OEM, made to fit, Full auto adjustinmg retorfit ) look into it, most expensive options are 1500 ish @themellly yes it's a gas guzzler if you floor it and traffic. we had a discussion about this in a recent thread

I wish making modifications to this car wasn't so expensive! Headlights are going to have to wait, not necessarily concerned of the cosmetics of this car as I already like how it looks bone stock, as much as I want to jump on SS Headers + Intake + Tune! College student budget, this summer is my time to shine
came from an '03 325xi, should have known what I was getting myself into parts wise though. Last edited by Kontra; 04-19-2013 at 03:18 PM.. |

Pretty much the same here... If I was that concerned about gas mileage, I woulda bought a Prius or similar.

Almost finished painting the eyelids, just clear coat left, and made some progress on my lip project.
But more importantly, I got PSS on my OEM 18's. It silky smooth, quiet and very predictable on power slide/tail wag. Makes me want to improve suspension quicker, while they are fresh. m3 front Arms or springs, hmm

In general, given how everything I love about driving is being sacrificed to MPG, at this point I'm pretty indifferent to caring about it as a stat.

LOL you're driving all sorts of wrong or your car is broken. I get 25 mpg 80% highway and thats usually being the fastest on the highway.

And I think it's sorta odd for some people to gripe about gas mileage when they dole out hundreds/thousands on mods/add-ons/etc. to their car... You gotta take the bad with the good.

All I was asking was what made you stay with a 128 because as I also wanted a 128.. after a while of thinking about it i changed my mind and went with the 135.. but never mind because the only answer I ever get is "i dont care about MPG" so forget i asked. |

Oh i didn't understand what you meant in that case. Main thing for me is longevity and reliability, thats why i got a 128 over 135. Another factor was price, but I'm extremely happy with my decision.

and as for the MPG.. your car is broken. my 125i gives me around 24-25mpg.. i believe the 135i is about 20mpg. so that argument pretty much strengthen my reasons for opting for the 125i |

lol thank you for answering with a normal response! I was just curious what other peoples reasons were for staying. The reason I switched was just because turbo cars are easier to modify.. i'm all about performance mods, the faster and louder i can get

I didn't get a 135i because I don't want a car that is 250lbs heavier, I hate turbo power delivery, I hate turbo powerbands, I hate the failing injectors, I hate the failing HPFP, I hate the failing turbos, I hate the failing waste gates, I hate carbon buildup, I hate overheating on the track, I hate crappy knock off factory Brembos that fail under actual load, and I hate being required to own a sunroof. Just off the top of my head, but I have none of that with the 128i. Instead I have a linear 300hp coming from the final evolution of an engine that BMW has been developing over the better part of 30 years mated to a silky smooth transmission in a car that with a little work will easily be at sub 3000lbs with no sacrifice of daily drivability. Price was never a concern in the slightest. Which should be pretty abundantly clear as Supersprint headers alone are the difference between a 128i and 135i.
