My mod of a cheap car jack and a burgertuning adapter, chop the original round head and replace with special fitting. Works very nice. Once you have the right tool, you appreciate the special mounts for jacking the car. Works just fine with my 128i with sport suspension.

How did you managed to make sure the BMS adapter is secured onto the jack?
I am trying to think of a way to stick the adapater to the jack so that it will not slip when I jacked up the car. |

Reverse logic sells a couple different adapters. One of them is universal for a couple cars with this kind of jack point. You have the option of bolting it onto your jack in place of the normal saddle for a more permanent set up.
The other is an adapter that stays inside the jack point via some rubber detents, so that you can stick it in there and then just worry about operating the jack. But honestly I wouldnt be worried about the adapter slipping off of your jack. Most jack saddles have a rubber insert, and if not get yourself a urenthane jack pad. http://www.reverselogic.us/ReverseLo...Jack_Pads.html |

I've seen the ramps shoot out on smooth concrete as well. I highly recommend using them on a driveway or another surface with a fairly rough finish.

Ive not jacked my my 135i. I have snow tires on my saab, so I have jacked it up quite a few times.
I built some wooden blocks that fit into the jack rectangles properly. They are also sized to fit onto the jack pad recessed area so they will not slip. Metal would surely be better, but these work well. |

Sorry, no... We have a milling machine at my workplace and I just thought I'd try it out to see if I could do it.

Can't say enough nice things about Fred at Reverse Logic. Great communication, fast shipping. Make sure not to buy his products off of ebay, they are cheaper on his website and free shipping. Also I feel compared to all the other options his prices are very reasonable....he is also currently running a special where you get a free wheel hanger guide tool with the purchase of his universal jack pad. |

I used the hockey puck method, cut to fit the jack receptacle on the car. I stick it in with my fingers and it is tight enough to stay in as I raise the jack up to make contact with the puck. The puck extends ~1/2" below the replicable. Here is a photo with the cut puck mounted on more of my jack stands.

I thought it was okay to use the diff?
What is this crossmember that people are using as a jack point? I have to take a look.

The only caution I know of about jacking using the differential is you need to put the jack on the differential, not the differential cover. The cover is aluminum and not a jacking point. I've used it and will again when I want to raise the back.
The front jacking point in the center is easy to see if you look. There is a round indentation with a rather obvious rectangular jacking pad in the center. I have to raise my 128 with sport with a 2x4 block to get my jack to it. Other than that, no issue.

... Diff cover... Last time I jacked up the car I thought it was straight on the diff itself. Do you remove this cover before you jack it up? I don't recall seeing a cover there.

Did some work today. People always asking how to jack up the front of the car and stuff so I took pics of how I did it.
1) Jack up one side and put it down on some books. WP_20150702_17_34_48_Pro by jsk945, on Flickr 2) Now I can jack from the center front jack point. WP_20150702_18_31_37_Pro by jsk945, on Flickr 3) Drop it down on jack stands carefully. I bought some rubberized inserts. I also use a small book just cause I'm paranoid about the jack shape. I figure the book eases it onto the rubber puck better. WP_20150702_08_16_58_Pro by jsk945, on Flickr WP_20150702_08_17_06_Pro by jsk945, on Flickr WP_20150702_08_16_49_Pro by jsk945, on Flickr |
