1. Seats. Someone mentioned the Sport Seats don't seem to have sufficient bolstering to anchor you in place.
These seats look all but identical as the 335i Sport Seats. If they are, then they are the best seats I've ever experienced in a sport sedan. Comfortable and adjustable enough for long drives (13hrs across France in one stint without dead foot syndrome) yet they hold you in place far better than many other seats. And the inflatable/adjustable side bolsters are the dog's balls for track days... If only they offered the leather/cloth seats... you can always order them after the fact for around $1-2k, but if you want to redo the entire interior (including headrests and door panels) then it will get really expensive. 2. Hill hold - someone was wondering how it works. It's simple: - If you stop on an incline, hold your foot on the brake and dip the clutch - Place shifter in 1st gear - Take your foor off the brake to press the gas, the car stays in place - You have about 2-3sec to press the gas and release the clutch, otherwise the brakes let go and you'll be rolling backwards.

^ so you have holes on the front of your 335i from ED?
I'm excited at the possibility of putting a ED trip together, but not looking forward to them piercing my front bumper.......twice... Thanks for the input on the seats, my friends e90 ZSP doesnt have the adjustable bolstering, but its an `06...

But all joking aside, I would not let this minor thing detract from the completeness of the ED experience. I have never experienced driving as good as on some Italian, French and German roads, and then of course there's the Nurburgring. Words cannot describe how gripping and incredible driving on the Ring can be. And to do it in your own car, it just brings a unique sense of bonding with the car, and completes the experience. Also, since you are driving on narrow European roads, it is quite possible that the front bumper will get scratched. You have full insurance coverage, so all you have to do is point this out to the dropp-off agent, and make sure your dealer in the US won't drill the freshly repaired (or brand new in some cases) bumper. My car got some minor shipping damage at the front, was fixed by the insurance, and the dealer gave me a choice to drill the bumper or not. I still have the front license plate in my trunk... (Please bear in mind that I'm not suggesting that you do insurance fraud - just that based on my experience and that of many others, it is quite possible that you run into a scenario like this). ^ yeah, my ZHP seats are great!
Thanks for the info on ED. I dont know though, I'd probably rather have the holes than a re-painted front bumper. Did the front end encounter any rock damage? I'm concerned that some damage of that nature might occur before I can get a clear bra installed. Or do you think some place across the pond could do it as I set out on that journey? I might just do that... also Did you by chance get Navigation in either of your ED vehicles? I'm just wondering if they would let you use the europe mapping then change it back to US before shipping. I'm not so good anymore without a navigation system, though I will have a passenger...

But basically I wouldn't worry too much. When you are on vacation, you can choose the time of the day for highway travel so as to avoid rush hours, in a twin-turbo BMW you won't drive too long behind slower traffic on two lane roads, best to travel around summer, etc. The chances of getting rock chips on your brand new car are not very big. On the other hand if something big were to happen (say an off at the Ring), no amount of clear bra can protect the front of the car... Quote:
FYI, BMW does not supply the NAV Euro DVD, you have to either purchase from them ($160), or rent from the ED forum on www.bimmerfest.com.

^ hey thanks again for the information. I'm still trying to talk the SO into doing all of this. The "I want a new car" is easier to take when you add "we'll go to Europe for a vacation and not have to rent a car."
haha I think there is hope for me, in the "New Action Shots" thread shows a Euro plate on the front of the car and it seems to be attached to a colormatched plate holder that looks to attach just under the upper lip, or whatever you want to call it. My RSX-S had something similar from Acura... Again, thanks for the info, I'm going to wait for the "got to have it" people to buy their 1er's then I'll order mine. I dont intend on paying sticker, I dont mind waiting. But I might hit you up with a PM on ED if I have more questions... Thanks and with that, /hijack

^^ it's listed as part of the premium package as mpower stated, if it's around the same area as the 3er I'm not sure but that's what I read from the "official" brochure

Hmmm. Thanks for that info. I don't see where they could put it on the 1er doors, and assumed ambiance lighting was the puddle lights, and the lights under the door handles that light up when you unlock the car at night.
