Difference between "sport package" and "M sport package"?

Take it to an upholstery shop, I've taken PLENTY of headlines off big SUVs, trucks, Ford Expeditions (by far the worst). The 1er can't be that bad. All the pieces attached to the roof are screwed on (an advantage), not like some of the new cars using plastic fasteners which you have to turn, squeeze god knows what before you get the damn window visor down. Vehicles of the 1er era simply used screws. Unscrew visor, little locking end visor snaps into, upper console with lights, hand grab bars (easy), (they're all torx I'm fairly certain). Then snap off the plastic by the dashboard, on first columns where the tip of the curtain airbag resides. Make sure you either unhook negative or positive on that battery just in case you accidentally fiddle with the airbag. But for that to happen you'd really would need to be messing in the wrong places and disconnecting plugs you shouldn't. Indeed, no plugs need to be disconnected.

Then, on both your seat belt restraints, you'll have to take the top of the plastic piece of that the headliner rests on. Sometimes there will be a little square tab for you to take out, underneath it a bolt. Maybe be a little more bolts. You may have to take off the lower piece first to get to the top one. The only part of seat belt you unbolt is the part that is on the column and gives you adjustable seatbelt height. Pop the plastic off, you'll likely be presented with a 14mm or 15mm bolt.
LAST, remember the plastic columns up front? There's a more "triangular set in the back. Those may have a bolt each but are mostly kept in by clips. Once you're done, the headliner is loose. You may even get it through the back with seats folded down, but since it's a couple I would suggest front doors. Now. It will BEND a little. DO NOT WORRY. As long as you don't hear a crack you're good. Even if you do, it's repairable with fiberglass n glue.

Especially since you'd be installing a new, material - wouldn't worry about creases - as the ones on the headlines (if any even left over after the pro's had their way with it) would be visible.

OR go straight to them, and pay 3x the price for the labor

I have a 2011 135I.
It has, stock 17" wheels with the S704A M Sports suspension.

Were 17" only available with M Sport Suspension?

It seems like most people with 2011 135i's have 18" wheels.

18" wheels were standard for sport and M-Sport IIRC - I owned an '08 135i with 18s all around and now own a '13 again with 18" wheels. The 128i came with 17" wheels standard, but I'm unsure if an M-Sport option was available on the 128i.

I have a 128i and have option S704A which is the M Sports Suspension. It came with 17" wheels.

Me as well. Style 207M (staggered size) were factory standard. Mine got replaced by the previous owner to style 141 (square) from the 3 series.

My 2008 135i was produced in Feb 2008, and is the M-Sport option with no Sunroof. Purchased and delivered to Vancouver Canada in April 2008. I now have 76,000 Kms. on it and aside from the usual suspects such as fuel pump, water pump, valve cover and OFHG gaskets it has been problem free. Oh yes, the clutch slave cylinder failed and was replaced under warranty at 16 months. I replaced the brakes with Zimmerman coated rotors and Brembo Ceramic pads at 60,000 km's (no more brake dust on wheels).

Wow, that original post of mine is almost 10 years old now. What I stated in that post is correct, but for US cars only. Other markets, like Canada, had the M-sport package available from the get go along with other differences in options. For example, all US 135 models had the sunroof included as standard while it was an option in most other markets.

It was definitely a little frustrating to see the M-sport package become available on US cars one model year after my car. I would have loved to have the anthracite headliner.

I have 2010 M Sport, Lemans Blue. Excellent (not quite mint) condition. I'm getting offers on my car is grocery store parking lots and gas stations. 4-years ago, I paid: $11,500. It had: 97,000 miles but just 1 owner, garage kept. he had all the records, which were perfect. Anyway, I'm getting offers of: 14 - 15K ! It's crazy. I have no intention of selling it but I'm just curious; has anyone else here experienced this?

As a very fresh and happy owner (3 days) of a 135i cabrio (LCI, DCT) and coming from an E36 for the last 18,5 years, I'm busy with a crash course in E82/E88 knowledge.

Rabbithole for sure. Anyways, I saw this topic and while only learning just about the US-only 135is model and this topic, I have to add 3rd option besides the Sport Package / M Sport Package. As my car didn't list 337 M sport (to my initial surprise) further down the option lists it turned out to have the option 7MF Edition Sport.

Hence my reference to the US "is" models, it turns out this package is (nearly) identical to that:

- Styling 313 M wheels
- Black mirror caps
- Black kidney grill slats
- "BMW Edition" sill covers
- Black sport seats with blue stitching / flootmats with blue seam.
- Darkline rear lights

Don't know if it's a DCT thing, but it did not come with the stainless steel pedal covers.

Pedal covers likely did not come from the factory installed. They were available from the dealer as an accessory option.

You make no mention of the additional performance from the engine which was the heart of the "is" version. Not quite a 1M, but a big kick over the stock 135i.

Correct. I should have mentioned, that the package includes that stuff, minus the performance upgrades.

Looks like the pedal covers as a set is NLA, but the individual parts are, so will be ordering that asap, together with the 1M strut reinforcement bars.

Your 135i sounds the same as the limited edition Canadian M-Sport versions. Just like the 135is but with blackline taillights and minus the Performance parts added at the US port; PPK2 and the Performance Exhaust.

Check to see if your VIN is listed here in the M-Sport versions:

Not listed there. Mines from Europe and it’s not an M-Sport, but Edition Sport.
