My 128 has been great so far. True, it needed some upgrades that I feel should have been standard, but all have been worthwhile. In a town with more Porsches and BMWs than most, it is very unique, I have the only Le Mans Blue 128 with PE and KW stuff.
The new turbo engine should be interesting. It won't have any lag at all, because BMW is doing twin scroll turbos now, copied from their MINI Cooper S engine (which is awesome). The torque is pretty amazing with this sort of setup, and if you are light on the gas, fuel economy is quite good. I'll bet a 128 with a little four cylinder turbo will be faster than the six cylinder engine and still get 35mpg easily. |

I hope BMW puts that engine in the on again/off again Z2 Coupe. Something the size of the old Z3 or smaller, less than 3,000 lbs and a turbo 4. Count me in.

I just thought I'd throw this up here for your enjoyment. I ran the first SCCA autocross of the season on Saturday, it was rainy wet day but I managed to win my class. There wasn't much competition this week due to the wether but it was still a great day. I love this car, while 300hp would be nice my 128i is still a fantastic little car.
Awesome photo of the day:

But many of us still don't understand why the 255hp NA motor has been recently offered on some US BMWs, but not the 1 or 3 series. Or even the new 240hp/220ft lb engine now in the 528i - albeit available only with the 8 speed slush box. Tom |

I have mine in Blue Water Metallic, and love it. I got it almost 1 year ago, and my office manager, whose son has a 335, still says "What a great looking car". I regularly catch myself doing 100mph on the freeway. My first response is always "OMG! Good thing I didn't get a ticket!" My 2nd response is "Wow this car runs great at 100mph!"
I love that it's NA, and to be honest, I really don't need any more hp. I can get in just as much trouble in my 128i. |
