I start my new job tomorrow. It's been a nice almost two month vacation after moving to Florida but it's time to go back to the real world .At least now I can start stupidly spending money on the car again.
First step is bags then I'll start collecting parts for the widebody in preparation to wrap a new color. Trying to figure out wheels soon so that I can order them as they'll likely take 3-4 months depending on who I end up going with. Building this car in my head I think I have a pretty good idea of what I want |

Installed the ZHP shift knob in place of the perforated msport knob.
At first impression I'm not that impressed. I thought it would be heavier but it is only 0.50+/- OZ. Heavier than my original knob so it really doesn't feel any different to me. May end up passing on it, already separated my boot from the shifter though :/ Does anyone know how much the performance shift knob weighs? The ZHP knob o got weighs 6.3oz My msport per knob weighs 5.8oz Im curious to know how much heavier it is

One Amazon listing shows "Item weight 6.4oz." Schmiedmann lists it at .17kg which converts to 6oz. Probably not enough to make a difference. Many call it "weighted", one guy said it was heavier than the ZHP, but not enough to call it weighted. Several guys on here have one - I wonder if any would be willing to remove it and check. As for me, I'm really happy with the ZHP knob. Never touched the Performance unit.

For me the sport knob was too Miata-esque (installed by previous owner). The ZHP look is obviously classic BMW, so to me it just looks right now. The short setup is the key, however. I have the m emblem steering wheel facade and now like that it matches up with the m emblem on the shift knob. Also, I got big mits, and love the feel of the ZHP in my hand vs. the tiny little knob. Weight feels right to me but this is one of this very personal taste items. |

Change spark plugs today. It's a good bit of work to get to them because of fiddly stuff like the cowl and harnesses and associated clips.
I'm at just under 50k miles but had the plugs from finding a good deal awhile ago so did it.

It is also not shorter as I thought it would be. Holding them side by side there really is no discernable difference. The odd thing is that since the msport perf knob has a slanted flat top it actually feels slightly shorter to me

There's another post that says the performance knob is too heavy and just heavy for the sake of heavy not weight listed. And if it's 6.4oz then it's really no heavier than the ZHP knob

Different scales? https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1492392 If you want heavy, Storm should have something for you! ZHP did feel tall (and a little odd) at first, but fills the hand so nicely. I've always liked them, so gave it the ~20 minutes it took my hand to acclimate. I have a tweaked E60 SSK lever - which has short throws, but is actually about an inch taller than stock. So I get good short throws, but with plenty of leverage, and clearance.

All this will be going in the car mid November
The amount of hardware (bolts, nuts etc) is silly, must have spent nearly €80 on them alone. |

It is odd that in that post he mentions the knob weighing 5.4oz even though I got the same part number he listed (25117896886) That being said, I'll be giving it a few days to see if I decide to keep it or not, I already had my eye on one of those alcantara shifter boots from Coby Wheel. If not I'll have to try my hand with some glue to put everything back together with the original knob

Are we talking about the N52 E82 PE? they are running for €785 now and 7 left. Add shipping to the US and local taxes....im guessing you will be touching US$1,000+ Maybe you can talk with your dealer? maybe they can "import" it for you instead? *note just to add, they were going for €550 a couple of months ago, and i wanted one but prioritized track days (hotels and the cost of entering), as well as M3 arms, sway bars, RSFBs and new winter tires got in the way. When i rang the dealership and got informed that only 8 remain, i am really biting my nails here budget wise in order to get that PE. Last edited by Zombie_Head; 10-29-2018 at 09:43 PM.. |

Be aware that the German/European P/N for the 125i PE (18102208803) and the P/N for the US 128i PE (18102208804) are different.

Started reaching out to a few companies inquiring about 3D scanning some things on my car. I'd like to design some new parts to be 3D printed. Front lips, rear diffuser, and E88 spoiler/duckbill are on my list. Depending on cost, what else would people like to see scanned for possible product development?

P/N 18102208806 is still available (though I'd guess not for long) and I just bought, look 1-2 pages above in this thread for discussion/pricing.

The point I was trying to make to @kaputt was that the European PE is different than the NA PE. I think it has to do with the ultimate sound levels.

Jeeze I'm gone 2 days and 4 more pages are added to this thread you guys are busy!!! Lol
I was in Philly with the 1er for the 21 Pilots concert this weekend, had a great time and the car was fun around south philly, people loved it! Enjoy the highly over-processed 4am picture with my drunk stumbling friends in the background (also, no, we didn't drive we just happened to walk past where I was parked and I couldn't resist the photo op lol) 2018-10-30_11-56-43 by Matt Steele, on Flickr
