98 Nissan 200sx GA 1.6 (fuel economy for days), 94 240 sx sr20 drift mule and 92 nx 2000 sr20 track mule. Got rid of all 3 and settled for the 135. Itching for a small Truck next.

Man, y'all were rockin other BMWs while I'm over here...
Lexus ES300. It was comfortable but my f^^^ it was boring! The steering was super floppy, it has a bunch of body roll and was slow slow slow. Also don't blast me for the HDR, I finished the photoshoot only to realize it was enabled.... |

The car I owned prior to my 1er, was a 2004 325ci
(Excuse the cheesy instagram filters) I loved that car. My first BMW, which got me hooked on the marque. Was not a sportpackage, had the standard 2.5 straight six, auto. I had a year 2000 Acura 3.2TL before the 325ci. And I can remember getting into the 3 series, driving it and thinking: wow the handling is insane compared to the Acura. The way it hugged the road; I loved it. Never had a problem with the car, bought it with 34k on it, sold it with 50k. Great cars the E46s are.. |

Leased a GTI back in 2012. I had been planning on getting a mk7 Golf R, but the timing wasn't right to get a manual one. Absolutely no regrets getting the 128i

I went from an '84 Z31 to an '90 Z32, then had a 2000 Camaro SS. Loved both Z's, but succumbed to the dark side and grabbed a deal that was too good to be true on the SS.
And yeah, it was indeed too good- the front end was whacked beyond what an alignment could repair, so instead of another set of tires & massive repair costs it was traded for a virgin new '02 MkIV GTI which promptly became modded to APR stage 1+ trim, with tune, intake, exhaust and brake mods along with that oh so sweet looking R32 front lip. Thing was like a puppy- just happy to be taken out, and always left me with a smile- it was great fun to drive & I still miss it- just soooo much fun to drive! The need to look more professional got me to trade it in for an '02 Audi A4 3.0 Sport, with quattro & a TIP trans. It was kinda slow, but good torque and it got me hooked on AWD. From there, once I didn't need to impress clients any longer, well I really wanted back into something boosted with a manual trans and and with AWD too- I wanted the best of both worlds, BOOST WITH TRACTION! This led me to the more adult race car- the Mazdaspeed6- nicer than either the WRX or EVO, and damn near as fast. And brother, by the time I was done with it she was way (WAY!) faster than your average bear... I owned the Speed for almost 9 years, and got her to the point of being both disturbingly fast and reliable as a daily driver. Sadly tho, old age and a lifetime of more fun than you can shake a stick at finally kicked in- and with a messed up back and hips I just couldn't daily drive a manual trans any longer. I had no intention of giving up the fun factor however, so the search began for a unique, reasonably mature and exceedingly fun ride that fit in my (Wife Approved) toy budget. Really, there are very few cars out there that fit my criteria, and without question the 135 was at the top of the list. It doesn't hurt that the 135 is a favorite among Speed6 expat's, so I already know more than a few folks in the 135 community. I seriously shopped the Audi S4 as well, but they're just too stodgy & overpriced. And numb- the grin factor is missing in the Audi, but it's very much front & center with the 135! Yeah, totally happy to have the 135- comfortable that it was the right progression for me. The full details on the Speed6 when it was sold- http://stable-networks.com/TGS6.html

I was in an e36 M3 for 8 years and loved it to death but it was getting a bit tired.
Sold it and ordered an e92 335i 6MT. The e92 was a nice car but I missed the nimbleness that my e36 had. I did a lease pull ahead and bought a CPO 128i 6MT and this car ticks most of the boxes that my e36 M3 left empty. I still have an e36 build in the garage though |

Curious why? I was comparing the 10 and the wrx sti.... they didnt have the fit&finish or the right feel. Too rough on the road.... but for all the harsh not any more confidence boosting then the 1 for canyons/back roads handling.
Edit: did i mention hated the lag in the 10? |

Nice- I was sooo close to getting a 128, just couldn't give up that much power regardless of how well balanced or how much fun. I'd agree that your 128 is very likely the last of the "OG" BMW's tho- with that very sweet NA straight 6 and proper mental attitude! May she bring you many years of healthy running and fun times! Love to see your garage put to good use! Do you have a thread somewhere about that work?

Probably the only one here in this situation but I picked my 09' 128i 6MT a few months ago with my dad as my first car. Took about a week for me to really be able to drive it though but damn did that automatic hill brake help a new learner of the man pedal. Love the thing to death!

And we meet again ! I had the same username on 6club and MSF .
I had a black mica Mazdaspeed6 GT which was my first car ever xD It was fast, reasonably luxurious and a lot cheaper to insure vs a sti or an evo for a 18years old . Like the 135i it was a great car to mod, I went from car guy with some mechanical skills to a engine swap over a week-end kind of car guy with a garage full off tools Quote:

Hey! Small world!
Yeah, owning a speed6 will do wonders for your tool collection and wrenching skills wont it. Certainly provides the proper perspective towards preventative maintenance & budget for owning a n54 135.

A hand me down 90's Honda Accord that had gone through my two older brothers that tuned it customized it, stereo system, wheels, etc was my first car.
When I received it, it had been stripped of the goodies and I was left with a beat engine, broken stereo system, paint fading & chipping and electrical problems. Somehow I managed to drive round without a working tachometer and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work to this day. Let's say the BMW and my new Ford will always be a step up from my first car.
