A downside of rear-wheel-drive. Especially with all that torque.

What tires are you getting?

Just sticking to a new pair of Hankook V12's for the rear. At this rate, the fronts will need to be replaced the next time I have to do the rears again. I'll change it up next time. No complaints from the V12's aside from the low life expectancy lol

Swapped out the summer wheels and tires for the winter wheels and tires I picked up last year for $100. They have a season or two left, and don't look too bad.

I also painted the hats and calipers.

Pretty sure the TIS says to replace the bolts. I didn't, and haven't had any issues.... but I might go check the bolts now lol. I think I dabbed them with blue RTV though.
Sway bar, and end-links are practically new back there.

I've read, mostly on Nissan 240SX, etc. (because racecar) forums that they clunk when they engage/disengage, but that isn't the noise I'm getting, so that mostly rules the diff out (pheww).

TIS does say to replace them I didn't either, and ended up like this. I, however, did not put loctite on them I ordered all of the bolts for both the driveshaft and axles since I was ordering, and since I'd be picking them up at the dealer (the dealer actually had best pricing for once).

After about 10 minutes of poking-around and listening with the car on jack stands, and my dad shifting between first and reverse and quickly releasing the clutch, we've narrowed it down to the center support bearing. The clunk is coming from that area, we can't hear a peep from the diff, and you can almost feel the clunk through the floor in the back seat. Guess I'll be doing that...and an exhaust finally.

I have the BMW Performance suspension for my 135i and I'm not that impressed with it (will be changing it in a week or so). Honestly, you should go with something else imo.

The BMWPS for the 135i is NLA, not sure about the kit for the 128i. Think the only difference between the 2 kits is the addition of a rear sway bar for the 128i, but the kits have different part numbers, so like I said, not sure if the one for the 128i is still available.

I believe the Performance springs are still available, though. They are separate from the kits and based on your VIN, as you probably already know.

Duplicolor. It holds up pretty well. My Audi Q5 is three years and looking good.

No, no tracking.

I'm going to use hi temp primer, automotive paint (Valencia Orange), black stickers and then clear my calipers. It's on my list of things to do when my car is off the road for a bunch of upgrades

Coming from a base 128, anything will be an improvement.

Thoughts on the stoptech brake kits?

TIA

Centric blanks are more than sufficient provided you don't care about the bling factor. I would recommend the "premium" ones with the painted rotor hats. Rockauto.com had them for the best price the last time I did brakes.

My point being you can get better (almost anything). Here's an example of a nice setup. Another example: I will be using the BMW Performance springs (since I don't want to go that low) with Bilstein B8 struts and shocks (and the install kit plus the extra parts in the link in my post here). There are lots of other examples.

Do what you want, just sharing my thoughts on the BMWPS. For me, hardly any different than my stock M Sport suspension. And, made for runflats. Definitely not a good thing.

PS - the only real plus to the BMWPS is that it's a complete kit so everything is there for you.

My 2 cents...

The 264 wheels look so damn good. They should have been the standard m-sport over the 261.

Did a short road trip and the CEL came on. After checking via Carly, it showed I had both 29E0 and 29E1 codes. From what I could tell after reading comments on line, the car should have idled rough and had crappy gas mileage, I had neither. After reading more comments, it sounded like an option was an air leak on the TB intake tube. Bingo. I had recently replaced the stock airbox with the Enjin CAI. The bands holding the rubber boot at the TB were a bit loose, I guess they shrank some after the initial install. It took a few more turns to get them snug again. Hopefully this is the fix.
