How are those (suspension components that shall remain nameless to create suspense in the forums)? My dad put some (above suspension components, from another brand) on his GTI, and it does (applicable things) beautifully. I'm jelly, so I've been lightly shopping...

I'm not, however, jelly that he has a slipping clutch at 24k miles (Mk7's have WEAK clutches) with stock power. Why, maybe a little (he's getting a Stage 2 with a lightened flywheel)...

Oh are we complaining about 3rd brake lights?

Original - replaced by PO (the tabs were already filed down on the light I pulled)
2nd - cracked
3rd - genuine BMW that blew apart in 3 months
4th - dorman that doesn't fit that great but hasn't exploded
5th - genuine BMW light still sitting brand new in box in my garage (from warranty)

Also I parked by the beach near Daytona, the gravel was super uneven and gave my car great (but useless) fitment. This was not rubbing!

Oh I'm having all sorts of fun,
tightening 500 nuts.

We aren't completely sure why they are coming loose, time will lead to an answer.
But I know that I'm one of the few on snow tires with bolts. Softer tire/tread block may play a factor.
I didn't tighten them too much. Enough to deform tread. How do you apply a TQ value, exposed length, tread deformation value to something that squishes unevenly.
I have absolutely beat the shit out of them. This last event was out 4th. Each is about 5 hours with me doing about 2+ hours of lapping, each lap being around a minute. So that maths to about 480 laps, but I'd say I've done close to 400? Working out the numbers isn't something I think about, but now that I do; damn I like to have too much fun.

Lol! I'll post up soon enough about the aforementioned suspension bits. They are doing their thing wonderfully, I just have to do a think and they'll be at 100% optimal-ness.

I'm fearing I may need a clutch soonish as well, though it's hard to tell with these self-adjusting units.

Did you use threadlock? Because I'd probably use threadlock. Tightening those bastards looks like a nightmare.

Nope. Nyloc nuts. No one else has had too much trouble I know of, but all are on junk summer tires, old race tires, etc. I'm the odd man out with my soft winter tires with good tread still (things have like 8/32nds left).

Really not too bad to tighten. Once a guy gets in a rhythm it's about an hours time.

Think I'd get a cordless driver, and extended socket. Tighten a couple by hand, test corresponding clutch setting on driver, firm it up one or two clicks, then go to town.
Also, threadlocker.

I have a couple impacts. But it only works if the bolts doesn't spin ... they spin. I think I neglected them for too long and this is my punishment.

Car's been in the shop a week and a half awaiting parts. Koni warranty replacement strut arrived Monday; springs came in today.
It's had an oil leak at oil pan gasket since I bought it. Having that fixed.
About 2 months ago I started smelling the occasional burning oil. Hoped it was oil jumping up from the oil pan to the exhaust manifold... No such luck. Turns out there's a leak at the valve cover, too. (OFHG & OFH replaced a year ago December. Hopefully that's still staying strong.)

Is this why people warn against out of warranty BMW's?
I mean, I guess over 100,000 miles is pretty good for a hunk of plastic that should have been metal in the first place. But it's a pretty involved replacement.

Pretty sure my oil pan is leaking now as well. Some spots appearing on my garage floor and the underside of the car is wet all the way back to the transmission. No sign of the oil coming from anywhere "above" the gasket so.....I think that's my culprit. It can wait, it's too damn cold to do something that involved right now.

Hope everyone is ok! Been a bit away from here and a bit more active on the M2 Competition board.

Got a question for people lowered and running APEX wheels in 18 x 9.5 ET58

Have you fitted 275 in the rear? Saw a couple threads where people ran 285 but with spacers or more camber.

I'm running Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 in 265/35/18 and they clear with no issues and its time to replace so I am thinking doing 275/35/18 this time.

Any feedback?

They outta clear...they're only 5mm (1/5") wider on either side of the tire than the 265's.

And, dayum! You're running some W I D E bois

Thats the exact math I am doing 5mm each side should clear.

And yes they are wide but figured since its time to change them they could be a bit more wide.

Car came back from the shop last week and the butt dyno says it has about 50-60 more whp

Ordered a BMS intake and the package got stolen from my porch. Fuck. I hope they burn in hell. My security cam didn't see it. Fedex probably dropped it where the cam couldn't see.

Cleaning up my 135i that I picked up from the Big Island and brought back to Honolulu. Removing all the water stains in gutters then coating with Sonax Polymer Net Shield. Hoping that will keep the water flowing in the future.
