Google says: 38 000 British pounds = 60 796.2 U.S. dollars at today's exchange rate. OUCH! That's almost $20,000 more than I paid for my M Sport 135i, an almost a 50% increase in price.

I'm in the camp that hopes they call it an "M1." I was just stating that because there is always a noticeable group that it rubs the wrong way.

Agreed. We all love and respect the original M1, but it is old and dated. I don't see any disrespect by using the M1 moniker on a new fresh ///M car. Plus from a marketing perspective this would give them leverage. Take this to the next level......by 2012 we might even see M1s running in ALMS and DTM. How exciting would that be? Oh, and to the boys at BMW, please, find a way to fit another 2 gallons of fuel in there???? PLEASE!!!!! |

I hope the front fenders are slightly changed to allow for something wider then the current 18x7.5" et49 wheels.
I think that right there is what kills the 1 series |

But a ~12% better PTW vs. the M3 coupe (forgetting that it will also produce more torque) is very unrealistic...not to mention how much shedding ~400 lbs. off the 135i would cost.

I'd rather have the suspension upgrades than just more power.

That's what I get for moving this thread into your reign. Seriously, I really hope they don't call it M1. Calling it like the supercar would not only be pure blasphemy, but also - and more importantly - be a sign of no real supercar coming for quite some time. I still have my hopes up for a M1 successor within the next 10 years. Best regards, south

I highly doubt the "m1" will have 350hp. If this is coming out of the M division, I'm betting a soda that, when all said and done, it will come out at:
1) 375-380hp/335lb-ft. Still lower HP than the current M3, and gives them enough room for the next gen V6 TT M3 to come out at its rumored mid 400's HP. 2) it WILL have an LSD...no M division car has ever come out without one, and I doubt they wont add one here. 3) Pricing will probably fall around $50K base. That will make the current 135i $37K base, 135is $43k, more realistic. Also gives ammo to BMW to start the next gen M3 at at least $60k base. 4) I doubt weight will be reduced much...I'm guessing it will remain at 3300ish LBs. this would make the most sense. for those wanting a good fun sporty car, the 135i at $37k + options makes sense for those wanting more power and added performance, the 135is at $43k + options makes sense for those wanting an "M" version of this platform, with LSD and considerable performance increase, the baby M at $50K + options makes sense. just my 0.02

Oh and fuck saving the M1 badge for a supercar, call the super car the M11 or something else. The only reason the X5 M is that way is because there is already a MX5 by miata. Don't call it a 135M, that's retarded.

i just wanna know how much torque it's going to have. it has to be between 320 and 359 lb ft/tq. What a little monster that would be... It should also get an LCI for the 2010/11 1ers. |
