Hmmm....I'll try this in the next day or so and see. It seemed quieter at first, but seemed to be normal the next day (maybe I was just being overly sensitive when I picked it up). I ordered the Berk Street and installed it a few days later so it sounds different now anyway.
One thing I have noticed with the Berk though is that the sound increases for a split second right around 2K rpms, then returns immediately to the previous sound level. I'm talking about during smooth acceleration, normal driving, not nailing it, it just gets louder then goes back to normal. Hard to describe. Like a "oooooooOOOoooooooo" |

I am experiencing the same issues. At first I thought it was downpipe related but I am have been having this issue constantly. Cold or warm engine. I am usually in sport and manual mode most of the time and coming to a stop I get engine fluctuations and stumbling on itself... Stall out are common and quite embarrassing not to mention dangerous. I also have the issue you guys are mentioning with the lag from a standing start. It is as if there is no connection between the pedal and the vehicle just dead space and nothing happens. Then with further pushing after the delay the car will bolt forward. This fluctuation at dead stop has almost led me to accidents multiple times. Ill be in line at a fast food restaurant and the car will just jolt forward when the idle fluctuates I have to be extra mindful of my foot on the brake to stop the car... This car is a 2012 DCT with no software or JB4. ----- I just dropped the car off to the dealer reporting the issue and they just called me back. He said there is a software update I am unsure if it is DME or for the DCT. I hope I don't end up with the "Turbo Lag" issue and power decreases you guys are mentioning...

Spoolin55,
I'm curious to hear how yours turns out. So far, the stumbling and absolute lack of throttle response seems to be corrected. I have tried the slow roll acceleration move many, many times and it no longer seems to have that issue. Doesn't stall, but occasionally the idle fluctuates between 700 and 800rpms. No biggie but I still don't think that is right. I also have a 2012 DCT with no S/W mods, so the comparison will be good. What dealer in FL did you take it to? I'm in Melbourne and used the dealer here, and they suck, but I'm hoping they got this right. Andy |

Here's an excerpt from my paperwork. He didn't exactly capture what I told him but they had that info in an earlier visit. He says "parking lot conditions", but that was based on my description of rolling stops and the lack of throttle response. I got mine back same day, by the way. They said it would take about 5 hours for the reprogramming, not sure why it takes that long though.

I got the same thing as far as time needed for a software update from IDEOS to IJEOS. They had the car all day. Seems odd, but it may do a lot of careful checksuming of the data, and it is probably a complete overwrite of the flash ROM. I wonder if it overwrites the data several times to make sure it sticks. Flash ROM can be kinda funny on the physical layer, and since vehicle software, such as the drive-by-wire stuff, can be so critical to safety they may play it safe and do multiple overwrites. I imagine it is overkill. The programmer may also run a ton of diagnostics after the write is done.
For reference, when you install or fully uninstall a Cobb AP it takes something like 30-45 minutes. I don't think there is any real diagnostic--probably just a CRC or byte-by-byte read compare which should be fast.

Wanted to provide an update.
~2 weeks now with the SIB 12 09 12 DME update. Car drives great! I drive in traffic 5 days a week and so far I have had ZERO LAG!! I love not being scared to jump a lane while accelerating from a coasting speed. Verdict: Car is predictable now and it looks like BMW has released an update that works. |

lol I may have to...
I got the car back last night and it drives great minus the fact that dackel was right. Soon as I started the car the exhaust note was significantly quieter and I noticed the power does not come on like it used to. Everything feels way more linear the trans does feel significantly crisper between shifts but the change in power delivery is bothering me :/ Car hasnt stalled yet though so at least I wont die haha Ill try and post the service notes when I can...

Sorry to say it, but... your car has now been neutered. That is exactly how my car(N54 though) behaved post SW update. I hated it so much I got a German flash tune. That gave me back the snappy throttle response and instant power tip in. Plus I got about ~80 Hp more. Some guys have gotten BMW to give them a PPK2 SW flash to fix or patch the "lag" SW. Good Luck - Dackel

Just want to chime in after having my 2012 N55 DME updated as of yesterday- I can confirm that the lag is gone during the quick stop & go situations that used to give me problems. So far I'm a happy camper! Now to put my JB4 back on to see how the new DME version affects its performance.

i was having this same problem. i work for a dealer so i had one of my friends that is a tech look at it. he went through this test plan and ended up re calibrating the clutches and resetting some stuff in the tranny and it seems to have fixed it. I've only had the car back for a couple days but it seems to be running 100%. the problem i was originally having was my idle would either jump up or die down and it would also do the same thing where when i went to slowly roll into traffic i would push the gas and nothing would happen until like half throttle. also if i would come to a quick stop the car would almost die sometimes. if anyone is still having this problem PM me and i will try and find out exactly what he did.
