I don't think so. This thing is going to cost more than an M3 with all this stuff for an end of life vehical. If it had 450 to 500 HP, then maybe I would change my mind. This car should have the M3 V8 in it to make me happy.

If this does actually happen then at least it shows that BMW recognise what has happened to the M3 over the years, and that it's customers still want a lighter, nimbler (and practical) performance car. Not knocking the M3 btw because I'd love one, but it's not like the E30 that I always lusted after in my younger days! |

so here is what I am thinking. This car, along with E30 M3, E36 Lightweight, E46 CSL, E9X CSL are all going to be collector's items.

I'm scared to even think of what BMW will charge for these options. I love the idea of BMW making these options available but knowing them, if you check all of the boxes, you're going to end up in M3 price territory. So much for the "affordable" M that BMW was talking about a few months ago. Hopefully, a "base" M1/1M (or whatever it'll be called) will still be cool enough without these extra options.

options do = $$, but still a +
Options are great overall. The options will also be expensive as BMW options are. I agree that the car will start around 50. I could easily see myself optioning the car to 60K with basic options like premium, tech package, cold weather and navi, ipod and premium sound.. Take into consideration the cf goodies and you can see where this is going.. Definately loaded M3 territory.. This means nothing if you want the lightest car, possibly best handling bmw coupe. But, for those looking for an e90 will be swayed to wait.. Though I really like what this car is, I think it came too late.. For me... BMW should've manned up earlier, instead of compromising the 135. When the M1 drops the F30 M3 will be a couple years away. Clearly that would probably be the more responsible move seeing how I "just" got a 135 2 years ago.. Great job BMW marketing (Scott).. ha
Now, give early 135 owners a generous loyalty discount for making this M1 possible with all the hype we spread and all the heads we turned pushing our cars in early 2008.. J. |

Exactly. This seems to be a great business model. Saturate the market with an affordable high performing coupe, then one up it while it's still brand new in the segment. That pushes people to upgrade in turn putting all the 135i's into the used car pool expanding BMW's customer base even more. Look at all the 40k coupes that will be sold for 20 something lol. They were right when they said it's an ode to the 2002tii, it will def be bringing people into bimmers quickly.
