Sorry to disappoint, I decided to go with the standard apex ec7 fitment and use the hub conversion $$ for part of the RSFB and LSD. good luck to anyone doing it in the future!

Heres another option, but read mixed reviews about vaico. They look like the oem supplier for the performance rotors tho but I might be wrong

Can't answer that question. But I can say that I have not had an issue yet without a parking brake. At first it was weird. My car has the step trans. Most other cars I have are manual trans so I naturally use the parking brake. I'm still sort of concerned when I park on an incline, but so far no issues.

ECS kit uses the e91 rear performance rotor. It is the same handbrake diameter as found on 335i, 135i and 330i and 328xi

The rear ebc pads for 135i spec would work fine with the rotor from the kit. its is same disk size as 135i rear rotor. In general keep in mind that this mod reduces your rear rotor choices to the e91 rear performance rotor. Other rotors like the f10 one need other mods. For rear BBK, with this hub mod you would need to use an e90 rear bbk caliper & rotor combo.

I was about to hit the purchase button on the ECS assembled kit and noticed they won’t have it available until October. Can’t wait that long. They don’t show the individual part numbers. 2011 wouldn’t fall into the LCI category correct? |

So, if I am reading this right, the ecs kit means I can use 335i wheel and tire offsets?

No. The fenders, suspension, and geometry still remains 1 Series. It just adds more clearance for an aggressive offset. So where a 40-45 offset with. 255 tire on the rear might have been agreesive before, now they’ll fit easily.

But, if the standard 1er offset is ET49, that means, with the E9x retrofit, it would equate to ~ET39, which is pretty close to the ET35-37 of many E9x wheels.

Sounds like you understand offsets fine AndyW. Just be careful, I'm sure that even with this mod, wheels still sit closer to the fender on an E8x than on an E9x. I'd think an 9.5" et37 wheel would rub bad with anything other than a 245 or smaller tire in a brand that runs small like a Toyo or Falken. My wheels are listed in my sig (9.5" et45) and I have this mod. My 255 PSS's no longer rub. I bet I'd rub a little with a 265 PSS.

hey andrey_gta,
i really liked your post on the hub swap! i have a 125i coupe and i just bought e9x 18" 313 wheels and rear wheels are rubbing and im thinking on changing the rear hubs to fit them and reduce 10mm of space as you said in your post. i just have a question for you, since the post involves many models. what parts would i need to buy for my e82 125i to fit my e9x rims? my offsets are e34 font and e37 rear. in overall, which parts (and part numbers) would i need to buy in order to get a 100% fit and perfect so that i dont have any problems later? |

Don’t know that he responded. Really no way he could guarantee this just based on knowing a front and rear offset. Equally important would be wheel width, tire size, suspension mods etc.
The e9x offsets are aggressive to begin with so a lot of this is going to come down to wheel and tire size in addition to the offset. The hub conversion brings the rear in 10mm. Your e9x wheel spec is is ET39 vs the stock offset of ET52. So you kicked your rear wheel out 13mm (about 1/2”). If tire and wheel dimensions aside from offset stay the same, you make up 10mm of the 13mm distance you pushed the wheel out by doing the hub. If the wheel width went 1” bigger, half of that is being pushed out to the fenders. So you lose another 12.7mm of clearance (1/2”). Larger tire (either height or width), same theory only tire companies all have different sidewalls that are made to either protect or not protect the lip of the rim. Bottom line is this. I’m guessing andreygta isn’t going to put a statement out there even with all the other dimensions that would be needed to make an educated guess and say it’s going to work 100%. I did the rear hub because I ended up in a situation where a fairly common VMR setup didn’t work for me on the stock suspension. Tons of other people have done the setup below yet myself and a handful of others experienced bad rubbing and the offsets are much closer to stock than the e9x ones you’re trying to fit. After doing the hub mine is finally 100% rub free. Front Wheel Specs: 19x8.5 ET 45 with Michelin PSS 225/35/19 Rear Wheel Specs: 19x9.5 ET 50, with Michelin PSS 255/30/19 Last edited by wrxified; 07-03-2018 at 07:43 AM.. |
