My dealer in Sante Fe didn't question ED at all. I'm paying ED MSRP and list for options. With such a limited allocation, discounts weren't part of the discussion. At a $2445 (I think) savings, ED won't pay for the trip but it will pay for airline tickets for two and a little more. Still, what a great adventure even if it will be pricey at $1.50 (or more) per euro. 3rd week in May about the time the flowers are out in Germany. 135/Silver/Black leatherette/premium hifi/USB and that's it. Bulletproof.
MSRP or not, this car is an incredible bargain and given what it costs in Euro's and pounds, we're getting an absolute steal. It can't last. Buy now. -Spook |

I could have had a car built as early as April 16th but asked, and received May 19th or 20th for my delivery. You're buying out of the dealers allocation and they know when their available cars are being built. They didn't indicate that there were any policy or process constraints relative to ED. The next step is the reservation (they're waiting on me for a passport number) which will happen tomorrow. If there are any snags or issues I'll post.

This story isn't unique and when i was shopping around for ED, I was also told by several dealers that it wouldn't be available till 6mo to 1yr after release date. I'm more inclined to think that the dealers were misinformed rather than flat out lying to me, but after calling around several dealerships, I found at least one that was willing to do ED right away. I'm taking deliver April 19th (ordered in Jan). You'd be better off calling around till you found one that gave you a straight answer.

I spoke to two of the four dealers in San Diego, and they told me absolutely not. Rather than waste my time with the other two, as I assume they're all working together with regard to no EDs, not selling below MSRP, etc, I went to a dealer I was referred to in L.A. Call around or ask around on here, and you'll find one. |

so... to recap, if I get ED MSRP price on a 128 that should be good? I guess the chances of getting a discount on this would be pretty much none... right?
the dealership I contacted in Maryland is doing it already so I could probably get a delivery sometime by the end of May as I was already planning a trip to Europe for other reasons anyway. I am new to this forum and to BMWs and I am trying to figure out if there's any point in even trying to negotiate price on this car... |

With the car being brand new, and launching in spring, discounts are rare. However, people HAVE gotten $500 (sometimes more) off MSRP. It really depends on the dealership you're at, and the relationship you have with it. As for Euro delivery, I'm doing it as well, just ordered my car yesterday in fact. You have to give them about 2 months after placing the order, to pick up the car. My CA asked me for 3 different dates to submit so they'd be sure. I picked May 16th, May 26th, and after June 15th. I still haven't heard back on a date though. I was also planning on going to Europe anyway this summer. My girlfriend has never been so I wanted to take her. This way she can't give me any grief about getting a $40,000 car Good luck with your purchase!

thanks for the welcome and quick reply! :w00t:
I am considering ED delivery though I can also get the car through diplomatic pricing given the I work for an international organization here in the US... in either case I am looking at about 2k off MSRP, but I am used to the haggle process with VW (and the steep depreciation) hence I thought a bit of research was called for... enjoy your trip in Europe... I always love going there except the exchange rate is going to kill us this time! |

Was this on an deal that was negotiated prior to the announcement in December on no ED allocation or after? I got $1200 over invoice but made that deal in November when everyone assumed it wouldn't come out of the dealer's allocation.

This was in late February (he knew it was coming out of his allocation). I waited until all of the wait listers had their cars, and the dealers we going to have to order spec cars for the lot. |

What about on a 128i vert?
Given what John970 said, do you think $1500 over ED invoice is possible for a 128i vert?:iono: By the way, how do I know what invoice is?:iono: I plan to pick up in late September.

Those that have confirmed ED's you might want to put your date on the Bimmerfest Calendar http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/calendar.php?s=&c=3
We have our 128 vert posted for June 6th. I think it would be great to see more 1's filling up those dates!! John |

Destination Fees
I think this may have been covered on page one, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the destination fee on ED.
I've been looking at the 128i and the MB C300S (and Audi) and I know for a fact that MB doesn't charge the destination fee on ED. On BMW USA's site it says that one of the benefits of ED is "wharfage and handling fees." My dealer just sent me an e-mail saying the $775 is NOT included on any of the cars, that includes ED. So, what's the straight scoop? |
