Just an update, I had a bit of an oil leak from the thermostat housing. One of the bolts on the oil filter housing (the E12 bolt) needs to be removed so the thermostat cap can be removed. I snugged up the bolt by feel and intended on looking up the torque spec on ISTA. Unfortunately the torque spec wasn't on ISTA and the housing wasn't leaking so I left it alone.
Fast forward to this week where I had a low oil warning and figured it was just normal N54 oil consumption. Topped it up. Today I did an oil change and noticed some oil on the underbody tray. Bit of a mess on the front of the engine from an oil leak from the housing. To get a ball park figure of the correct torque, I set the torque wrench and tested one of the other bolts of the oil filter housing. Didn't budge at 25Nm so I used that spec on the other bolt. Turned a good half turn so it was definitely loose. Bit annoying for me but good info for people who want to install the thermostats. Melbourne members can pick up their thermostats from me

Also check your accessory belt and pulleys for signs of oil and change them if there is.
I was with froop when his belt/pulleys decided to shit themselves coming down the main straight lap one of the day at Wakefield. There wasn't much left of the belt put it that way.... |

For me, unfortunately my oil cooler hose O-rings must have been on their way out and when moving them out of the way for the install it caused them to leak. I was told that my OFHG wasn't leaking, but I had it all changed at the same time anyway. I'm holding off on installing the thermostat on my E88 as it's at more than 150,000 kms and I'm pretty sure there's slight seepage from the OFHG so when I get that done I'll install the thermostat at the same time. Otherwise, for everyone else, if you're not currently getting any leaking, just make sure the thermostat housing bolt is done up tight enough like Vincent has said and try to avoid pushing the oil cooler hoses around too much.

Received the package for the 2nd batch for Melbourne just now. Can organize a time to pick up at my place. I will also be attending this meet here on the 10th of April:

There are a couple extra thermostats due to some people having older cars where it doesn't fit. Send me a PM if you're interested in one!

Just an update with my oil leak, doing up the bolt to torque didn't fix it, its still leaking. Will need a new gasket to fix it. Hopefully my closest dealer has a gasket in stock.

Hey Vince, did you ever sort out this leak? I thought you couldn't purchase this particular gasket separately? Doesn't appear to be a separate part on RealOEM
