All I have left is Milvs for performance goodies. Then I plan to move on to suspension, appearance (New Front/Rear Bumper, and side skirts since I finally found them)....and I will need some smaller projects to fill in my time between all of that.

Sorry for all the questions...but I have an addiction!!!
I have the base professional radio. It's the only fitment they have for the 1-series.

I tried installing it earlier tonight and got a large cloud of foul-smelling smoke from the unit. I ran it just 15 minutes earlier without a problem...

I reached out to their customer service...if I don't hear back by tomorrow at noon, Amazon can deal with them.

^^Just to be clear, this is after disconnecting the car's battery...

That sucks...sorry to hear that man. I have Base Radio too and at some pint I know I will be doing something. But I really don't listen enough to "gutting" everything and starting over. But when I do listen, I want it to sound halfway decent.

Reason I asked about the DIY was I didn't know if you had to do any modification to the dash.

I looked on the website for the E82 series, and they had 2 offerings.

It is always a bummer when the magic smoke escapes. Weird that it happened with the battery disconnected?

Yesterday I noticed my AC isn’t blowing cold in my 135. Today I add a can to it and hopefully it takes and doesn’t quickly leak out. Just spent a nice bundle on getting the Vette trans rebuilt so I really don’t feel like spending another chunk on the 1 right now. Evaps seem to be the likely problem and that can run over a K. Recharge, please work.

It's the PA7981BIP. When it was working right, it seemed to be working great. Audio was good, signal was clear, and the screen was responsive and snappy enough. I really think I just got a dud because they make hundreds of thousands of these things, and they usually work without issue.

DIY is pretty easy. Since I'll be starting-over, I'll take pictures and document the process. It's pretty simple, and I don't think that any dash modifications are required for the 1-series. You will have to trim a little bit of the climate control panel though.

I was relieved when that smoke escaped it started as soon as I connected the battery, and kept going for a little after disconnecting it.

I don't get why that happened, since the radio shouldn't be powering-up with the car, it should only power-up with the key being inserted. This will take some investigating on my end just to make sure my car wasn't the cause of the problem, and that no damage was done to my car as a result (other than a likely-blown fuse).

I didn't do anything, but she decided to show a car on a lift warning light and illuminated the brake light. Apparently that's a brake pad/fluid/sensor issue, so off to SpeedLogic it is. My brakes have felt soft for a while, I'm actually surprised it took this long.

Anyone have recommendations on a good street/performance pad?

Normally there is accessory power for a time period after the car is shut down isn't there? The last 4 vehicles I have owned (1 Audi, 1 Subaru and 2 Ford F150s) would let you listen to the radio for quite a while with the ignition fully off. I tend to spend a lot of time waiting outside of shopping malls for She Who Must Be Obeyed, I have data on this

Loaded some freshly cut wood in the trunk for my firepit at home!
The college groundskeeper was kind enought to drive me to my car with the wood from a hanging branch.

All that bark on the carpet makes me cringe. Just thinking of how hard I would have to try to get all the wood out of the carpet.

Would have been better to lay a plastic tarp or something down first but he probably didn't have anything with him at the time and didn't want to miss the opportunity to get some free firewood.

Did some suspension work. Installed YCW front dampers and camber plates, added the fe1rx ohlins spindle spacer which really helps with geometry. Also did new toe arms, got rid of my spherical toe and replaced with fe1rx custom 1M style toes. Switched from TCK rear spring adjuster to YCW which comes with extra isolators, pretty cool stuff. Also went back to adjustable end links in search of neutral preload suspension geometry.

Gotta put in a new set of 1M tension struts and adjust the shock body lengths all around and... Might be done with suspension.. For Now.

It would have been nice to have some tarp or something but all the bark got vacuumed up by my shopvac as soon as i got home. Back to looking new again!

Set up an appointment for 110k mi service, alignment, brake fluid flush, and clutch R&R.
They say BMW specifies new flywheel (big $$$) when clutch is done, but only replace the rear main seal if it's leaking. I'm leaning toward new seal as preventative maintenance, but he says it's so tricky that sometimes replacing it causes a leak.

Finally got the rear diffuser in. Amy suggestions on getting the rear bumper to sit flush at the top? Doesn't seem to want to

I have something similar in my Mazda3 and love it. When it gets dirty you pull it out and hose it down, good as new. And the height of the sides contains any liquid spills. Definitely worth $60 IMO.
