Almost definitely not. 25 years becomes emissions exempt in TX. So a 1994 would be perfect. I intend to make it a fun weekend and track car and eventually add forced induction. If I can't find a decent first-gen car after a couple of months, I'll try to find a 2017+. The cars haven't evolved that much to make me want the newer one that much more. They are newer but offer similar performance.

Went to the local drag strip. Just having fun and ended up beating almost every car I lined up with.
It really needed sparkplugs I guess. damn thing was super consistent, until trans temps got over 225. Then it locked me out of gears. Beat a FBO E90xi on RB1's. But he's new to track and camps. I was cutting .2 reactions on a pro tree and 1.7 60' s with the open diff. When this car is on it's so fun. Last outting I'd found a couple errors in the tune and fixed them. Ever since the car has run awesome. |

Got around to rewrapping the fenders with the "vent" overlays and black sidemarkers. Love how it all came out. Really makes the fenders look wider

Received some beautiful AKG engine mounts. Very excited to install these!
Also got the diff further apart; swapped the undamaged (new) ring gear to the LSD, and now I just need to slap it back together. It was 100 degrees and humid (and it smells like gear oil) in the garage, so there's only so much progress one can sanely make Hopefully the car will be back on the road by Wednesday!

Diff Version 2 is assembled, and ready to install. Got the E60 finned cover so it won't feel the need to self-ventilate again

It certainly makes a good piece of art
--- Just finished installing my new AKG 75A motor mounts. I'm astonished at how harsh they truly are, but also not surprised. The motor does NOT move when I push on it with my pinky anymore, so that's good; I accomplished one goal . I think it's magnified because it's sitting on Quick-Jacks, which aren't the most taught, rattle-free things on Earth. It should also calm down a little bit as they break in. Little revs indicated a great gain in responsiveness and engine sound (finally), but that's as far as I'll get until it hits the road tomorrow

Cool! So where are we at with MFactory LSDs right now? It's the last main mod I want to make, but I'm seeing a couple of recent issues again. Should I go with another brand??

This time I did add loctite I wouldn't avoid a brand just because they had a few QC issues. MFactory handled it (IMO) extremely well, and as best they could as a tiny company, and I respect that.

Ordered snow tires.
... but it's July. Correct. But when they are 60% off what they cost in Winter, you buy them. Got a set of 215/45 17 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2's for $350 shipped. |

I gave the 1'er a couple days off. Took advantage of a loan of the '66 Mustang vert that we sold about 4 years ago to possibly one of the coolest guys on the planet.
He's supposed to be picking her back up today.

Guy you sold your car to let you borrow it? Nice!! My dad traded a VW Vanagon and some cash for a '66 Mustang, the guy still comes around every once in a while and asks to see it, start it up, and if my dad will sell it back to him

Changed my oil in 100° 75% humidity weather. Not fun at all.
By the way, is to possible that changing to oil would make it run better and smoother?

My F-i-L bought it brand new back in the day. My wife bought it off him in the eighties. She'd owned other things, including a '95 GT Vert (4.9 5mt) DD so the old one kinda fell into neglect. I took over care and feeding in 2000, but it was still hers. Technically a 2-owner vehicle I suppose, but only one family. We moved in with said F-i-L about 4 years ago, and had no place to store a (fourth) car. So, after 49 years of faithful service, we sold Mustang Sally through a specialty vehicle consignment center. I included some old parts and all the old records. New buyer lives less than 10 miles away, hunted us down, and invited us to the original dealership for the car's 50th B-Day party. Turns out he was a big-wig at a supplier my B-i-L was working with, so added a connection there. He FB messaged my wife before Mother's Day last year - "Sally misses you - come drive her." Couldn't turn that down. My wife and I kept the car pretty original. (Switched to electronic ignition for dependability and front disc brakes for safety). He's added Bluetooth audio and stereo speakers, cupholders, period-correct A/C, period-correct alloy wheels, dual exhaust; and had her taken apart, all worn-out stuff replaced, and put back together. All she still needs is paint, and he polished that up quite nicely, too. And created a leather-bound booklet with 50+ years of service and maintenance receipts. Anyway, the F-i-L (may he rest in peace) passed away the 7th of July. When new owner received the news he informed my wife that he'd be dropping off the car in time for the rosary and memorial services. Incredible. A little over the top, actually, but he likes to think of Sally as my F-i-L's third child, and wanted her to be involved in any way possible. Frankly, the 1 is a much better drive, but we get a lot more looks and compliments in the classic. The temptation to buy the Mustang back just to have and care for it is great. But, considering how long he'd looked for an original, red convertible and what he's put into it, I'm sure he'd need at least triple what he paid to make it worthwhile. Okay, back to your regularly scheduled 1er talk. Thank you all for letting me rant.
