My pleasure, re the v1 yes it's chatty but the extra range it provides is worth it. I think there's a way to program the V1 to filter out certain signals but I'm too lazy but if you google it, I've seen folks post their custom v1 settings for the tri-state area. Prob is nj state troopers, especially those on GSP still use the old bands that are typically false alerts in other states so you almost need to v1 to detect anything tabs everything where we live.

Just turned 1700 miles on the odometer and gave her a fresh wash and detail this morning. Since this is the Show Us Your Cars thread, here's a photo. Can't wait to go out and smash some bugs later today.
Michelin PSSs get installed and temp plate goes away on Wednesday.

Wednesday should be a fun day for you, too. We don't get paper temp plates in CA, did in Oregon, but they went in the window, not on the car. Guess that makes it tough to wash the car with those on, huh? |

She looks great, go give those bugs heck - but be sure to keep an eye out for the "wing and tire" boys Sorry to hear that the temp plate goes away soon, as in Ohio that means you now have to mount a front plate. While I was growing up there, there were several attempts to ditch the 2nd plate (every state that borders OH only has one), but the state troopers always pitch a fit about "safety".....in reality, it's an easy target for them to aim their laser at on the highways. I miss alot about OH - but not the winters and most certainly not the state troopers |

Thank you. Previous ride was a 2001 Mazda Miata that I owned for almost 12 years. I love the 135. A few small things that are talked about elsewhere but positives far out-weight those. Have no regrets at all. All I have done is tint. Work has been busy, caught in government furlough, 6 weeks in body shop (long story), and to be honest I don't think anything HAS to be done immediately. I'm just enjoying driving it.

+1 here to stock PSS sizes and no front plate. =) I even told my dealer when I ordered it, if there's a front plate bracket mounted, I won't take delivery.

I also plan on not running a front plate. I'll keep a mount for my trips to SF, as you will get a ticket there even when parked for no front plate but in the San Jose area the cops don't care as much.
Just emailed my CA to make doubly sure that my bumper won't be drilled, and to make sure that they have the black kidney grills installed and rubber floor mats there as well when I get the car.

The BMW floor mats are a few bucks cheaper than the bavauto ones, so I'll start with those. Bavauto does sell some awesome-looking weathertech ones if I ever feel the need for an upgrade. I had a weathertech liner in the back of my Passat and it was excellent.

Prostate Exam - Full-Size Spare
Here's a look inside my trunk now that I have the fitted luggage mat thing, and a full front-size spare in a BMW tire tote bag with handle. It's not so bad and I'm still able to put various bags and groceries and stuff around it.
Also, with the bag with handle, I'm actually easily able to get the tire in and out with just my right hand since I have limited use of my left, so putting it in and taking it out isn't that hard. |

Doesn't really seem necessary to tie the wheel down or secure it in any additional way beyond the grip of the mat. To test this out, yesterday I made some hard turns that sent a bottle and the envelope with my license plates apparently flying from the right cubby across my trunk but the wheel/tire didn't budge. I don't think it's going anywhere, or at least isn't going to move more than a hair that would require tying it down or securing it any further. And if I take a road trip, I'll probably just put my back seats down and put any luggage there I guess. I will also probably end up just selling an additional tire tote bag I have as unfortunately they only come in a box of 2. They also sell "wheel felts" which are just big round discs made of felt that you can also put on top of the wheel to essentially protect the wheel and fill up the open part of the wheel bag. I suppose then if someone wanted to, they could buy those, put them in and then easily put things on top of the wheel as well to minimize the loss of space back there. Wow, your pics are always amazing Rick. You a professional photographer?
What's also funny, and I've noticed this mostly on all of our respective mineral greys and some of the blues is that there's something about the curvature of the quarter panel about halfway up the driver's side that always makes it look like there's a reflection of a big black circle. Anyone else ever notice that? It sometimes shows up on other quarter panels, too, like I see it a little bit on the picture of yours from the back 45 degree angle in your driveway Rick after you washed and detailed it. You can see it pretty well on these two of mine and also on one of IEDEI's pics the other day, too. I think I'm losing my mind. Last edited by gregthegr8; 09-23-2013 at 08:45 PM.. |
