I honestly should have bought Ford stock. If I bought 5k when it tanked I could almost buy a freaking 1M by now.
Oh and BMW's sales were up 14.5% Ford's sales up 16% http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/01/b...-neff-edition/ I just can't stand when others from across the pond beat on American automakers that they know nothing about. You can only beat a horse for so long until it either dies or gets back up. This one got back up. GET OVER IT. |

I think if you compare the price of a fully optioned 2011 mustang GT w/ glass roof type of options added to it then compare it to the speculated price of the 1M you'll get the point posts 106-108 are talkin about. I've sat in the 11 GT and the interior quality is on par with my 08 M3. The performance... Well, you all can google. That speaks for itself.

please stop assuming that US = the world. Nobody drives a ford in europe, asia, middle east or south africa. OK, maybe some people actually do. But your pickups, SUVs etc, are definitely US-only. Last i've seen of Ford in europe/asia is mondeo's and focuses.. |

Look at the sales figures. The U.S. still has the world's largest economy. The economy of all of Europe put together is about as big as the U.S. The U.S. has been the worlds automotive market until recently. China just took that crown. What is with the ignorance? Nobody buys Ford's in Europe? Ford's Europe sales jump 16% in March "FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- American car maker Ford Motor Co. /quotes/comstock/13*!f/quotes/nls/f (F 11.31, +0.21, +1.89%) said Thursday its European sales rose 16% to 192,500 vehicles in March, making it the best-selling brand on the continent for the month. It was also the company's tenth consecutive month-on-month volume increase. At 68,800, sales of Fiesta were the highest for any Ford model on record in a single month in Europe, the firm said." In fact, Ford's insuragece in Europe has been increasing for 12 consecutive months last time I checked. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/for...rch-2010-04-15 Last edited by Spartikus; 07-12-2010 at 07:47 PM.. |

Ford's new 5.0 is a great engine, but the fact remains that if the Mustang was engineered by Ford of Europe, it would have taking out M3s a long, long time ago. Ford has just recently allowed it's "good shit" to come over. We still don't have Ford's Mondeo, and what if we had the RS200? Ford had some off the meter offerings in Europe that rivalled or bettered the quality from The Germans, but look what we were stuck with (Damn Nascar lovin demographic and bottomline dictated it) Ford has made tons of mistakes with cars. Most notably, the Tbird. By 1957, the Tbird was faster than the Vette and was beating it on the track. Ford management decided that there was no future in 2 seater sports cars, and in 1958 made the Tbird a 2+2 coupe. It thus got heavier to the pimp mobile 70s 'bird. Now, the Vette is a World Class sports car, shutting down Lambos and Ferraris. The Tbird? Oh, it got reissued as a remix of the 1957 Tbird, when they should have followed the path and made it a sports car, not a cruiser remix. Then, Ford effed up on the LS, saying they didn't put a stick in a car meant to go up against the 5 series, because they didn't have a MT that could handle the torque (This is what their engineers told C&D). Excuse me, the same company that makes 300+ hp and 300+ tq (at the time) Mustangs don't have a MT for a 280 hp Lincoln? BS!!! And then one of he reasons why Ford was in financial trouble was because they were putting tons of money into the Jaguar F1 team, instead of having use that money to develop the F type and turn a profit. Jacque Nasser had said that Jaguar would be stupid for not producing the F type, Ford fired him... |

bottom line is, when a new 3 or 5 series comes out, we already know that a M variant will be out, so people wait. This has caught many 135i owners off guard, and they now are pissed, so they try to downplay or down this lil M rocket. It is what it is. Either sell or trade in your 135i or admire it. It's kinda like the guy who struck out with the hot girl that they really liked and they see the next man scoop her up real smooth and easy like. The loser gets pissed and jealous and starts knocking on the other guy, a guy he doesnt know, but one that had better game. Accept it, tighten your game, and roll on. |

So I posted this in different thread where on a ride along a magazine correspondent notes that the 1M can rev to 7500 rpm. Can somebody blow up the temperature guage in the pics and read it? Could the 1M have a variable redline similar to the M3? Could we all be fooled right now?

If M1 has 360 PS @ 7.400 rpm and 450 Nm @ 2.000-7.000 rpm it is going to be a little deadly beast. |

Well said.. Ford, Hyundai and somewhat GM (CTS-V, etc) have been producing some great tech and cars lately..
That pic of Mondeo above is pure sex.. 2.0 Ecoboost in it is a great engine.. Quote:

Nothing they make will handle as well as my Z4 MC, but they could certainly make a car that is as much (or more) overall fun with the right setup. FI is also = 100 whp over stock with 1.5k spent.

I believe he means that with $1500 spent on a forced induction engine, you can gain 100 or more horsepower over the stock output.

With the N54, people are picking up 100 rwhp over stock output with about $1500 spent. If they actually do have an engine that will rev to 7500, and peak power comes after 7k, you can expect more than that, because that will take decent sized turbos on a 3.2l engine. The ASR turbos hold power from 5200-7k, limited by fueling, VERY slight drop around redline. If they offer turbos with that kind of flow (allowing 340-360hp at over 7k) expect 450rwhp with basic boltons, '03 Cobra style. Probably more like 500-550 with race fuel.
