Shop around for the finance then see if your dealer will match it.

I was able to get my dealer to match the 8.6% APR that another dealer offered (they were the fourth I tried). This is through BMW FS, my dealer tells me (true or not) that they're making £47 profit on the finance.

£8.5k Interest over 4 years with residual of £14.7k.

That residual is set by BMW which is why they were able to quote PCP earlier than other finance companies. I haven't seen anyone else able to match that yet.

I would almost certainly expect some equity at the end of four years.

Interesting point about the overvaluing. Though they aren't putting their money where their "hype" is. Although other manufacturers may be offering higher values to keep monthly payments down, I'd rather pay less and do my own saving for the next deposit, than pay much more per month on the chance that I may get a few thousand extra when it comes to sell. At the end of the day they are making plenty from the finance deal if APR > than inflation + profit margin in car so I don't see why I need to take on the risk myself.

I've a few months till I have to confirm my order, so will have to do some searching, will be interesting to see how much they will do close the deal...

Also forgot to mention, I tried to get them to work up a PCP for a basic car on the road with no options, but he basically said it wouldn't make much difference to the GMFV.

Hi everyone, quick update from today. Ended up at BMW UK rather than my office, and met with James, 1 and X1 product manager. For now, just some pics. I liked white a lot more than I thought I would, but I'm sticking with orange :-)

As you can see it was very sunny, so apologies for the glare!

I'm beginning to have doubts about black, white with black wheels would look brilliant.

Went to order the interior carbon ashtray cover and gearleaver surround last week, dealers said no, best to wait - good advice!

Mine arrives at dealer next week (BSM) and I'm having Performance Carbon spoiler and black grills fitted at PDI, should look awesome!

I know I'm a bit of geek, but I love the very Germanic car parking in the photos -

Looks like all the cars around the edge of the car park MUST park facing outwards. Great att to detail.

Yes - plus windscreen with grey shade - wanted that dark smouldering look.

It is due a week on Monday and I'll probably be camping outside the dealer.

Mine is due in exactly 2 weeks, but apparently I won't be able to see it till a week before the official launch!

I am still soooooo torn. Saw lots of white 1ers on the M-Way today and in the sunshine they looked stunning, but so many of them.

Not many black ones and no orange ones.

Kind of makes me want to get orange especially since Clive's photos, which I didn't think I would hear myself say.

Will hopefully get to see those two cars in a week or so.

Go for VO Mark! I never ever thought I would get an orange car, but what do you know?!

No, no drive - that was never of the agenda. We did start it up though :-)

The orange car has clearly been driven very hard by the press - the outer edges of the front tyres had that lovely "I've been on a trackday, a very long trackday" look about them!

Re the carbon interior bits, I have these in my car currently - I'm not sure how the gearshift surround bit will look alongside all the alcantara.
