Not much difference in feel of power in my case. The exhaust burble is definitely there and it wasn't before, so I know something got updated software wise on mine, but heck in terms of power increase I am really scratching my head. The power delivery is more linear than it was before, but it doesn't feel any stronger - just smoother. People say 20hp is hard to feel, but I would disagree with that... its technically a 7% increase over stock and that shouldn't be hard to feel if it was really there :-)
Another good way to confirm whether you have the ppk installed properly or not might be to line your car up next to someone who does or doesn't have it and just see what happens. Unfortunately I don't have any buddies with another 135i m-sport package. |

Not sure if the diffrence is more felt/significant due to me having a N54 and a steptronic (more torque per PPK)...but I can definately feel a difference. It's not a holy shit type of diffrence, but for sure a diffrence. And the fact my warranty still applies, gives me a little piece of mind as well.

I will visit my dealer soon and ask for a quote .. I hope they match the price in middle east the dealers always increase prices saying "we payed alot for shipping".
anyone one got it online and took it to the dealer ? I'm not sure if they will accept though. Some guys say performance depends on how did the install the softwear on ur car ?!! I think there is one way doing that and you cant get it wrong...Its not luke it is custom tune ...

This is what my service report sheet states was done to my car:
Written by bmw tech- " i replaced the dme with provided dme. Then i downloaded the tuning enabled code, then programmed the vehicle for bmw performance kit. Then i used the isid to enter fuel injector calibration values and to initialize szl/steering. And then initialized tpm system. " Power kit - 449.00 Labor- 220.00 Shop supplies-18.81 Tax-32.67 Total-720.48 I didnt remember reading about injector calibrations when performing the ppk install, but guess it was required. Also, i did not have to get new spark plugs installed...my cars build date of feb 08 and currently have 27k miles.

This really needs to be addressed. If you lose it as part of the tune, BMW should make that clear upfront. Can anyone confirm this?

Yep...Dealer in Minneapolis. I think they discounted it due to the fact labor ran a bit longer than the quoted 1 hr...so discounted the power kit and upped the labor. I requested a total cost quote before any work was done and the bill was within 20.00 of the quote. I'm pleased with the results.

What the heck That's not supposed to happen (at least I hope not!)! If it was intentional they would 1) say not intended for install on a DCT or 2) the DCT launch control application may not operate with this kit. I would go back asap to the dealer and asked them to fix it. If they prove to you that this is a legit side-effect of the PPK please let us know. I have a 2012 w/DCT on the way and I will not have the PPK installed if this is what happens. Has anyone else besides X-M3driver had this issue with launch control on a DCT after the install? Please let us know if so.

Hmm 2011 model here, built on Oct, 2010 and I can confirm that the DCT launch control after PPK install is non existant. Doesn't really bother me, only tried it twice after the car's break in period to see what all the fuss was about and wasn't particularly impressed by the results, so missing it is not the end of life, though I do agree with the statement above that there should be a warning somewhere about this. Could it be that they just changed the parameters as to how long the car needs to be driven in order to activate it? I remember the manual saying something about 6.2 miles before LC can be engaged, maybe that # got changed with PPK installed? |

Ok now I'm confused on whether I should get the PPK or not. I'm picking up my car tomorrow from the dealer finally, yay. Guess I'll have to decide what I like best... better all around performance or the launch control which is one of the highlights of the DCT to many. Decisions decisions....
