Hey guys, I am not having any power on my radar detector. I tapped my wire on the green/white wire on the connector with the arrow on it on this DIY. I looked at the wire and it looks like it is tapped correctly but no power still. Please let me know if I have the right wire. Thanks.

Looks like I'm having the same issue. No voltage on that green/white wire, whether ignition is on or off. I have a 2012 135i. Does anyone know what that connector is for? Is there a fuse for it that I might have blown while tapping this power wire?
EDIT: Turns out the wire tap provided by the hardwire kit did not work for the job. It's designed for a larger gauge wire, and therefore was not even breaking through the wire insulation. I used a different wire tap and got voltage. But be aware that the connectors all need to be PLUGGED in before battery voltage is supplied at the green/white wire. Works now! Thanks for the write-up guys. Especially the removal of that map light assembly. It's a bitch! Last edited by chiefsalami; 03-23-2013 at 03:21 PM.. |

I performed this install in my 2013 135 and it works provided i don't use the sunroof. But if i open or tilt the sunroof it loses power. Provided the root is closed, everything works great. Also, while the roof is tilting or opening the radar detector turns on and off very rapidly, like the power current is pulsing. once the roof has stopped opening and is open, the radar detector stays off. as soon as the roof is closed, it works normally again.
any ideas? i performed a similar install in my '10 328 and did not have this issue with the sunroof. |

Additional Information regarding the clips:
This thread on e90post may help in showing the tabs better than I explained. Thank you for this link. My factory mic had been unplugged when I bought the car and this assisted me in finding the issue. Bumping it to make it easy for others to find when installing or replacing mic. Issue was I could hear callers, but they could not hear me. |

I know this is a necro post but did anyone who did this DIY have any issues with the SOS system? Ever since I did mine and used the green/white wire as described I get an SOS system failure warning when I start my car. If I disconnect the radar detector, I don't. Thanks
