I may try to do a Torque curve comparison maybe much later this month. And again, I stress it is not a perfect comparison. Especially if the gains are sloped more aggressively or in rare cases parallel to no-tune

Time to resurect this thread! The time has come to make my purchase, and I've chose Evolve. Local German tuners want to much, AA doesn't have a great track record for headers, and Evolve fits all of my needs. I will be swapping to SS headers in the next year and I don't want to run into issues with the tune and SES lights. I want to thank everyone for their imput, and Manny@ActiveAutoWerkes for all of your help and insight. Now I'm just waiting for Imram to email me back so I can make my purchase!!!!!!!!

Frago ...! Imran couldn't ship to my address so I got a refund. Who would you go with as your second option?

AA or OE tuning are really your only options at this point, and if they are on sale, should be cheaper (including shipping) Otherwise you can go with a Brittish tuner like Ptorque.

I'd go with AA as a second option. Since i've fixed my o2 issues my motor has been buttery smooth without any hiccups(i knocked on wood). I'm looking into finding defoulers for the secondary o2's that will remove the check engine light whilst still allowing us to pass inspection. My mechanic has a set in mind that he knows to work on every car he's put them on, i just have to purchase them and have them installed really.
I recommend defoulers for the secondary's mostly because when i looked at mine, they were black and filthy from the lack of the cat's.

Issue with shipping to APO address?
Sinister1,
I am guessing that you have an APO address which is why the product you desired couldn't be shipped to you. If so, checkout shipitapo or a similar service. I used it all the time when I was stationed in Germany. There is some added cost but from what I recall it was relatively small and its a nice work around for people who refuse to ship it to APOs for whatever reason. Hope this helps. |

Ok time to resurrect this almost dead thread again. I recently installed the 3 stage disa manifold and AA tune on my bone stock 128i. Stock manifolds, stock exhaust etc. Only changes were the intake, and tune. WOW! I was expecting a difference, but wow! It's been 2 days since the tune was uploaded and it just keeps getting stronger and stronger each day! (I know it will level out once it adapts) I am very pleased with Manny's customer service and Active Autowerke's quality product. It was very simple to install and came with clear directions.
Immediate impressions: Stronger pull, more torque, slightly different exhaust note, and no speed limiter. 2 Day later Impressoins: Much stronger pull, Will spin 265/40 PSS tires on command, Pulls hard all the way to 7K RPM's, needs headers! I'm sure once I get the suspension installed with camber plates I'll be able to push the car alot harder than I have been. Brakes are next, and I need help choosing QUALITY upgrades in Rotors and Pads.

At what speed will it spin those PSS's? My 245 v12's won't spin after second gear up unless i'm purposely clutch kicking and hooning around on purpose.

I think it takes DTC off to do wheel spins. The nany is too strong

I'm speaking full nannies off. Whenever i'm actually playing around/driving spiritedly i always turn the TC/DTC/otherbullnannies off. They intrude way too much and IMO make it harder to anticipate what the car is going to do. They kill power and induce heavy understeer in my experience.
Then again i know my limits and don't go beyond them for risk of totaling the car and myself.

I completely agree! I just do not understand why bmw didn't let the us market have this from the start. Suspension is on the way, brakes, then headers!

I just went with an evolve tune along with the 3 stage manifold and supersprint headers. I havn't dynoed it but I am amazed by how torquey to car feels now from 2-4k rpms, I was expecting most of the gains to be in the top end (they are there too).
Now I just have a slight idle fluctuation issue to work out. Most likely a hardware problem on my end or an issue of adaptation. I have to go through and look for exhaust leaks, etc. before I bug evolve. |

Well I'm planning on doing a dyno around the 1st. No headers, just disa and tune. Super sprints are next on my power mods list, but I have to get the suspension and brakes sorted out first. Suspension is picked, brakes are 90%. I'm thinking about running Stoptech drilled rotors and EBC yellow stuff pads. Still not sure though.
