+1000! I like your theory and i hope it will come true. I am really planning to buy a 1M but for the moment i have to chose the color that i dislike least of all and that bothers me...

Valencia : will have a date on it
Black : camouflages the wide body + non metalic
White : In fact i like but all 1 coupés are + non metalic

Conclusion : they really should come with alternative colors and blue must be a certainty and MC blue just kicks!!!!

What I specifically made clear was "Monte Carlo Blue"
Not five different shades of blue , colors that current M bosses have no appetite for (Laguna Seca Blue) and colors that are discontinued because of their environmental impact (Estoril Blue)

To which Monte Carlo Blue is the semi-sort-of replacement for Estoril.

If the question is 'would we prefer three colors or four' do we really need to answer that? Is BMW Marketing designing the cars too? This might explain a few things.

While we're begging for additional colors, how about Ice (matte) or Mineral white instead of Alpine?

Scott-- sign me up for Monte Carlo Blue! The color issue has seriously been one of the factors keeping me "on the fence". Now if I can just get some official specs and an idea of the price I'll be ready to pull the trigger.

Yes. Monte Carlo Blue is a go for me as long as the price is right.

So question - How does a paint have an environmental impact.
I can understand its a chemical, but specifically what is the concern?

Disposal?
Procurement of an ingredient?

Exactly. MC Blue is todays Estoril.

I have always loved Estoril and the first time I saw MC Blue on an X5M I wanted MC Blue on a car. I was mad when I ordered my 135 and found out the custom painting option was no loger available or I would have MC Blue on my current car rather than LeMans Blue. Every once and a while I have even considered buying an old M Roadster in Estoril with a blue top to enjoy here in Florida, mostly due to the Estoril Blue paint.

If BMW offers this color it will be a classic combination of car and color. Rare color on the last 1M with a classic BMW 6 cylinder.
