You do have to pay the $775 on top of all other charges. Delivery for ED cars is the same as any other.

I have all the price lists and ED gets the 775 destination fee... even the diplomatic prices get it... from what I can see (I have a diplomatic visa) any purchase that goes through the dealership gets charged delivery... but if it is any consolation, customs and port duties for importing the car directly come up to pretty much the same amount...

According to my dealer there is not much of an advantage in ordering the 1 with ED however what if my company is sending me to europe next month, would the cost savings be worth doing ED?

US vs ED MSRP is about $2500 in savings so this is the worst case savings you will see. I don't believe your dealer, I think it is totally worth it to do ED.

if you are going to europe anyway, definitely ED... otherwise, I think the difference is really a free vacation ($2500 will pay for ticket and a few nights of hotel, but you might end up spending more too!)

Don't forget if you take your better half, Lufthansa has a 2 for 1 deal with BMW for ED.

So has anybody been able to place an ED order lately. I visited a dealership last night and they said that they cannot get an ED order done for the 1-series. I take that to mean that they have no allocation? I'm gonna hit up a different dealership instead. It sounded like BS to me.

Irv, Do you have allocations yet for MY09's? Some posters on here say they have production numbers but I didn't think allocations were out yet. Thanks. |

You do ED for the experience not the savings which are minimal once you figure in the cost of the trip and $9 gas. From what I have read here and other sites, most people are paying full MSRP on ED.

I just went through the process of finding a dealer to order my '09 135. There are plenty of dealers across the country that will go below ED MSRP. You just have to find them. |

"are they even allowed to...." Yep, I've read of it being done on other models, this model is just too new, a year from now (or sooner) everyone will be getting them at ED-Invoice or slightly over. They're not exactly "flying" off the lot from what I can tell, at least not at my local dealership...

Combine that with a plane ticket bought with frequent flier miles and spare bedrooms of friends in Munich, Salzburg, Bad Aibling, and Frankfurt. My trip is basically free, save the difference in fuel and food prices. It is possible to save quite a bit doing ED, just make some German friends and build up some frequent flier miles :-)

Tulley BMW, Nashua, NH.
Nick Porriello is my CA and a great guy to deal with. No nonsense, and an amicable deal. My exact price, all in (excluding Mass tax/title/reg) was $40964. By my calculations, MSRP was 42830. So just about $2k under MSRP.
