Yes, some states do an OBD2 emissions readyness tests/scans. Clearing fault codes resets the test and the AP clears the codes whenever you change maps or uninstall.

Wouldn't the BMS downpipe fix work for that? Or is this a more comprehensive emissions test?

I ordered an Accessport today!

BUT, I've already got a Dinan S2 flash.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the Cobb, or will it simply overwrite the Dinan tune?

I8AOS - st2+LT Mapv4.02

Not long ago I installed my DPs and bumped up to st2+. Recently I've noticed that if I am just puttering around town around 2k rpms (3rd gear around 25 - 30mph, 4th gear around 40-45mph) I notice what feels like an oscillation. I am not on boost however, just cruising with steady throttle. Basically it feels like the rpms are fluttering - dipping and rising modestly 100-200rpms. You can hear a sound change, and if I wasn't the one behind the wheel, you might think I was easing off and on the gas pedal (but I'm not).

Anyone else experience this? I've seen one post before with something similar at higway cruising, but can't remember if it was here or E90post...I don't think it was addressed.

What could this be attributed to? I seem to have full power on WOT and every other aspect seems fine...just right around the 2k rpm mark does it flutter like this. FYI - car has 36k. Plugs changed recently, coils and injectors done within last 5k miles... FMIC has been on for a year and I haven't touched anything else, so I don't think it's a vaccum issue (still stock charge pipe and dv's).

I think I am going to uninstall the COBB, remove the maps, re-download them, and give it another shot.

Sounds like the same problem I had in my Mazdaspeed3 when I went stage 2 with Cobb.. It was a HPFP issue. It was small fuel cuts.. But I guess you'd get that at WOT if that was the case. Have you tried logging this happening and sending it to Cobb?

Nope. I recently did the same thing. Cobb wont save your Dinan S2 tune. It will flash the computer and if you want the S2 bck, your dealer will have to do it (most likely at a cost to you).

This sounds normal, especially in your Florida summer heat (COBB targets load, not boost, so in the summer to reach a certain load more boost will be required). I'm surprised it blew the carge pipe off tho...

Keep in mind that the boost tapers off up top, espcially more so on the Stg 1 vs Stg 2.

It isn't the turbos, it's the wastegates. Do a simple road test next chance you get. This will tell you if the wastegates have fallen out of spec.

Run the car until warm. Then drive the car with a mild load between 2000-3500 rpm. If you hear a varying loud click/clacking noise that comes above the sound of the road (I tested at 40 mph) then you're wastegates are not acting properly.

For my special case when this happened I was also losing boost pressure. I was recording 2-4 at max where stock is 8 (and normal for my car was 8.8 uncorrected).
The car felt like a 128i to drive after this.

Gotcha - sorry was tired last night when I posted and didn't understand the connection you were making.

I'll do as suggested, but honestly havn't noticed it before (not that I was listening for this). Also seems I am getting full boost at WOT. I'll log that too just to make sure.

thanks for the help -

No worries man and best of luck. What I am saying is that my turbos were simply failing in addition to the wastegates and that yours may have a different set of circumstances. When my wastegates failed, everything on my car failed and I didn't see it for 2 weeks.

BrokenVert has confirmed (with his dealership) that that is indeed the test to check if the wastegates are out of spec and need to be replaced/fixed by the dealer.

I posted this somewhere else as well.. I installed the stage 2+ FMIC aggressive map and I'm getting CELS. I figured I would post it here as well.
Hi everyone,

I just installed the Cobb Accessport, VRSF 3" Catless Downpipes, Berk full Street Exhaust, AFE Dual Cone Intakes, ER Competition FMIC, ER Charge Pipe with Tial BOV. I'm running 93 octane and just refilled with fresh 93 Shell Octane as well.

These are the codes that I am getting. Anyone know about any of them and what is wrong? I was told by Cobb that Stage 2 automatically deletes the CEL's associated with the catless Downpipes so these are different CEL's.

Please note that all of the factory o2 (4) sensors were installed in the new downpipes.

Here are the codes:

P2CAA Lambda probe heating before catalyst, temperature
P2CA6. Lambda probe heating before catalyst function
P29E1. Mixture Control 2
P2C7F. Lambada Probe after catalytic converter 2, trimming control

Please help, thanks guys!!

One of your o2 sensors is likely bad or installed incorrectly on bank 2 ( bank 2 are the sensors with gray sleeving or the ones going to the shorter DP) This is the most common issue after DP install.

Which down pipe is the shorter one? Closest to passenger side or drivers side? Also is bank 2 o2 sensor up in the engine bay by the vband clamp or down underneath the car? Thank you!

Hi Cobb,

I would like to know if you have any experience or data to show how restrictive is the stock catback on a 135i N54? I am planning to do the DP but if the catback is a major limited factor than I might do the exhaust as well. But I do want to keep the secondary cat to keep the noise down and smell. Please advise.

Sam
