Sounds like no one has tried the Cobb flash with a PPK yet. You're the first. Good find man!

Longtime 1addicts reader, first time poster here. I got the Cobb AP for my N55 a couple months ago and was told by the CS reps that the PPK will be reinstalled at Cobb uninstall. Guess I'll find out if it's true at my next service.... |

That 20psi is just a spike, you will be maxxed at ~18.5psi.

Click on your ECU revision, it will take you to the page of available maps. There is a "Map Notes" link right next to each staged map. ex. https://static.cobbtuning.com/cobbtu...sPORT_v402.pdf

This may have been answered somewhere in here but I got tired after about 20 pages of reading. If I am at stage 2 can I use an E85 mix? or do I need the FMIC upgrade?

You can run an ethanol mix on any map. However, unless the car is already pulling timing you won't really see any improvements until you adjust the tune for it.

Thanks and a follow up. I am assuming it would be a bad idea to use the Cobb ots race E85 tune which is used for stage 2+ if I am only at stage 2? Of course I am not looking to use it for long just to make my friend with his stage 1+ 335is cry. I already kept up with him neck to neck from 40-170mph on just a stage 1 tune.

Mikey, my advice would be to: 1. Take the OTS stage 2 map in ATR and plug in 1.1 into the banks 1 and 2 fuel scalar tables 2. Put in ~4.5 gallons of e85 and then fill the tank with 93. 3. Grab some logs with the default logging parameters(add Fuel LPFP PSI) keeping an eye on LTFT and STFT. 4. If everything looks good then you can start adding some timing to make use of the ethanol. If you need any help just shoot me a PM or post in here. I prefer the latter to make adding attachments easier.

Is it just me or do the OTS maps (all stages) run pretty damn conservative with regards to timing and boost at higher revs...I understand as an OTS offering, it's always going to run on the conservative/safe side, but I still feel like they leave alot on the table up top. Lol i'm basically telling myself I need a protune.

Yeah, they're pretty conservative. You also have to keep in mind those tunes have to be on the safe side for cars in almost any imaginable scenerio. It has to be reliable both at sea level @ 95F and 7,000ft @20F.
Unfortunately we can't all live at sea level in cool, dry climates

One thing about advancing timing, you can only advance it so much until either you knock or you stop gaining HP and TQ for a given octane. So I used virtual dyno along with my logs and found that happy timing advance where I stopped gaining any HP and was not pulling timing. ATR is a useful tool for those willing to learn, experiment, and has the time to take many logs and make adjustments to maps. Those not willing to invest the time are better off getting a Pro tune. |

I actually saw nice gains and a good bit more timing being held with E30 fuel. You should not just put on the 2+ as they raise a lot of the cat protection fueling maps a good bit. You would be much better off to start with a map close to the hardware you have and just change the injector konstant or what Cobb calls the fuel scaler and then bring in some timing and data log. This will take some tuning and testing, but I was able to run a good bit more timing and it definitely picked up power on the dyno ! I love ethanol fuel and it seems to help a good bit in most applications, you just have to tune the car correctly to get the power out of it. I have taken my car all the way to about 40% ethanol so far and will be testing a new fuel pump and full E85 soon :-) JZW |
